Low light: 24-70 IS at a 4.0 or 24-70 at a 2.8

Shooting a music video on a 5D MKIII hat will take place mostly at night. All exteriors.

 

It'll be all handeld, with no rigs, as I'm stealing a bunch of locations.

 

It's going to take place in Manhattan, so there'll be sources of light around - from buildings, streetlamps, etc.

 

My question:

 

Should I rent the 24-70 IS 4.0, or trade in the IS for an extra stop and go for a 24-70 2.8.

 

I really want the movements to look fluid. So...

The IS f2.8 is always much better than f4 even more if we are talking about night exteriors...70mm handheld with in,outs,pans etc will make you troubles with focus .
