Robert Hughes Posted April 6, 2005 Share Posted April 6, 2005 The Bolex reflex system has a prism in the optical path that requires special lenses to compensate for spherical aberration. Your best bet are the Kern Switar -RX prime lenses for medium and wide angles. For longer lenses (above 50mm) your choice is greater, because the difference between -RX and regular lenses is not as important. Bolex made 3 different quality lens lines, from lowest to greatest: Yvar, Pizar, and Switar. You'd be hard pressed to find a better 16mm C mount lens than a Switar -RX prime for your Bolex. The Switar zoom is well respected, but it's pricey and may be available only in bayonet mount; you'd need the bayonet hard front on your Bolex to use it.
