ben goldberg
So I am Gaffing a feature starting in a few days. The DP and Director have requested a similar blue gel to what was used in The Abyss. Anyone have any idea which blue or combination of colors this may have been? Thanks!
jeff woods
I'll have to go watch it again to back up any of this, but I don't think you can just say a gel number and make it work. Was it L200 on a tungsten fixture, or on an HMI? Any filters in front of the lens? Shooiting on daylight or tungsten film? I would also venture that, like a lot of Cameron films, it has every bit as much to do with the lighting as it does with the timing of the film in post. Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted August 11, 2013 Premium Member Share Posted August 11, 2013 A lot of the blue color is from uncorrected HMI lighting on tungsten film.
