Joy Division biopic

So here's what I've been hearing about the Ian Curtis/Joy Division film that is in pre-production. Jude Law may be cast as Ian Curtis. Surely this can't be true. I think somebody like Cillian Murphy would be appropriate, or maybe Ewan McGregor (he might be too old), or at least they could get some unknown actor who would be better than Jude Law! I understand Deborah Curtis, his ex-wife, has a great deal of creative control over the film, and she plans to have a bunch of second-rate bands cover his songs. I hope all this is just gossip and not really true. On a positive note, I've heard it will be shot entirely in black and white.

I would kill to be able to shoot that. I think any film about a good band like that is better than none. Jude Law might not be too bad.

Jesus H Christ!!!!!! How can you possibly think Jude Law can play the role of such a genius! What is with Jude Law's popularity? He's sh*te! The only thing he's done that was ok was Road To Perdition! There is no hope! Arghhhhhh!

I thought they were going to use the actor who portrayed Ian Curtis in "24 Hour Party People"? I thought he did an amazing job portraying Ian.

If they want their project to fly Box Office wise, they'll take Jude Law. If it's black and white and all for art...then they could pick anyone.

Supposedly new order support the project but then have you heard their new album?

I loved 24hour party people.. one of funniest films in years

Ian has been exploited enough though... his music is his legacy...

But then again you never know might turn out to be a great film but very hard to feel optimistic..
