Vadim Joy
Hi, I have an Angenieux 12-120 in cameflex mount which I haven't used for 5 year since I sold my Eclair. I haven't sold this lens then, and I won't now. I know there are extenders made by Angenieux that can enlarge image circle from 16mm to 35mm film format. Somebody even told me that Kubrick used one of those extenders for his films made by CP. The problem is that I looked up on the Internet but I can't find anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Zac Fettig
In theory you could use a spinning ground glass adapter (P&S Technic or Letus, etc.), but why? Why not just use a lens designed for 35mm?
Vadim Joy
I "grew up" with that lens, Zac. I use other zooms as well but it just feels better. Any links? Edited January 30, 2014 by Vadim Joy
Zac Fettig
Sorry, I'd thought the 2.5K had the same sensor size as the 4K (Super 35). The sensor is only 18.1mm diagonal. So it'll likely vignette at the wide range (below 30mm maybe?). http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAMEFLEX-to-M4-3-Micro-4-3-43-G1-/320928782733 No idea if they're good or not. This above link assumes you got one in M4/3. AFAIK, there is no Cameflex to EOS adapter out there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depth-of-field_adapter If you want to go that route, it'll work regardless of mounts, but badly. Zac Fettig
Looks great! Was the lens just placed in front of the camera, without a mount?
Vadim Joy
No, I happened to have cameflex to m4/3 adapter already. It looks good but the only way to avoid vignetting at the moment with this sensor is to put files on 720p timeline. Or, to shoot RAW and put on 1080p timeline for full hd. In other words, to crop it. Zac Fettig
I see. It looks great! Shooting with a DOF adapter would solve the vignetting issue, but the picture quality would go down; even worse than stretching the picture.
Vadim Joy
Maybe one day somebody will make some sort of adapter for old cinema lenses. That marked is huge.
Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted January 31, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted January 31, 2014 You can find 16mm focal extenders, usually 2x or 1.4x, but ones in Cameflex mount will be rarer. Here's a PL mount one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Century-Optics-Super-16mm-PL-Mount-2x-Extender-for-Angenieux-Cooke-Blackmagic-/281255675215?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item417c25054f A doubler will generally cost you 2 stops, 1 stop for a 1.4x extender. Some have more room between mount and optics than others. An older Bayonet mount one like this by Optex for example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Used-Optex-2x-Extender-S16-/131088927317?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item1e85824a55 will foul on the rear element of a 12-120. So check the clearance before investing in one if you find anything in Cameflex mount.
