Mi Ki
What is this thing on the left side? Looks like an antena... https://scontent-a-vie.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash2/t1/521366_4166493924259_722253006_n.jpg
Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted February 12, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted February 12, 2014 It's the antenna array for a diversity receiver, presumably for a wireless video link of some kind. The two antennae help because high frequency radio (which is required for high bandwidth signals like video) tends to behave somewhat like light, an bounces off certain surfaces; the slight difference in position gives the device a second chance to pick up cleaner region of the signal. More than two is also possible. The vertical orientation matters because radio waves can also be polarised. The shape suggests they're slightly directional antennae, like the yagi antenna sometimes used for domestic television reception (though they're not yagis, and TV broadcasting is usually used with horizontally oriented antennae). More directional (that is, higher gain, in one direction) would be a parabolic antenna like a satellite dish. Someone may recognise the specific brand, I don't.
