John Reynolds
I have heard there are adapters for the 900 to allow me to use PL mount lens? To assure I'm using the right term I'm wanting to use lenses for an Arri flex BL-iii on my 900? Is this possible? Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted April 21, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted April 21, 2005 There are ordinary PL-to-B4 extension tube adaptors made by Angenieux but I believe you'd have to get the image flipped back to normal using your camera's menu. Plus you don't get the field of view / depth of field characteristics of the lens when used on a 35mm camera, so you might as well use the lenses actually designed for HD cameras like the Zeiss Digi-Primes or Fujinon's. Or there is the P&S Technik Pro-35 adaptor, which allows you to put a PL-mount 35mm cine lens on front and the image is internally projected onto a vibrating 35mm-sized groundglass and rephotographed by the video camera. This way you retain the field of view / depth of field characteristics as when this lens is used on a 35mm camera. Both the extension tube and the P&S Technik add to the length of the set-up. Andy O'Neil
We just used the P&S Technik and 35mm primes on the SDX900 for our camera test shoot. It worked very well.
