scott karos
I have a short film I want to make and I want it to have a blueish look. It all takes place in a bedroom. Are there any filters that could do this or would it have to do with lighting? Any advice would be great.
Brian Drysdale
You can filter the lights, put a suitable blue filter on the camera (80 or 82 series), apply the blue through the camera's white balance menu or you can apply it in post or even a combination, The method may depend on the type of camera you're using. Premium Member Bill DiPietra Posted April 15, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted April 15, 2014 The method may depend on the type of camera you're using. Exactly. Are you shooting film or digital? Bear in mind that filtering the camera with an 80A filter will cost you 2 stops of light.
scott karos
Im shooting digital most likely on a canon 5d with rokinon lenses. If i lose 2 stops of light, does that mean I'll need to set more lights to supplement the loss?

Since you're using digital you have plenty of other ways (as Brian mentioned) to create a blue cast rather than putting a physical filter in front of the lens and losing light. I would imagine you would have the most control if you adjusted it in post.
