Eugene Lehnert
Does anyone here have a lot of experience using Expression filmstocks? I am going to Savannah Georgia and I wanted try shoot a few rolls of Expression. I thought it might give me a more romantic look?

The Kodak VISION2 Expression Color Negative Film is slightly lower in contrast. It is a great choice for a softer look with slightly lower contrast and color saturation, or to give additional flexibility in telecine transfer. I recall that Mr. Mullen used 5229 in his recent feature "Akeelah and the Bee": http://www.cinematography.com/forum2004/in...?showtopic=4685
Eugene Lehnert
Interesting. Maybe I will just get a few different filmstocks and try them out to see how they all look. Thanks.
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted May 5, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted May 5, 2005 5229 is comparable to 5218, only with a slightly pastel quality, softer contrast, and "smokier" blacks. I rated it at 320 ASA myself and thought it looked lovely.
Premium Member Adam Frisch FSF Posted May 5, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted May 5, 2005 I rated it normally and combimed it with a Low Con 1 filter and it looked fantastic - infinite blacks that held details.
