Gabe Phillips Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Is anyone able to explain the difference between 50i and PF25 to me? I'm new to cinematography and can't seem to get my head around it
Mark Dunn Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 TV takes its time reference from the mains frequency of 50Hz. Each frame is scanned once every 1/50 sec. with the scanning lines interlaced, which is what the i stands for. The alternative is to scan the entire frame once every 1/25sec. and then move on, (progress) to the next frame. Hence p for progressive.
