Premium Member Bill Totolo Posted May 24, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted May 24, 2005 Just wondering if anyone actually considered the venue before buying their tix. I saw it at the Fox in Westwood. Big old theater where they have a lot of premiers. Located 1/2 block south of UCLA campus. I wanted to see it with a young audience. I'm glad I did. How about the rest of you guys out there?
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted May 24, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted May 24, 2005 That's where I saw it, out of nostalgia mainly -- I saw so many big movies there when I was a student at UCLA. Sat in some long lines at the Village (Fox) and National on opening day for so many movies.
Premium Member Bill Totolo Posted May 24, 2005 Author Premium Member Share Posted May 24, 2005 I would like to see it in the Dome now. A shame it's not playing at Graumann's.
Tenolian Bell
I saw it at the Arclight Dome. For the 2K DLP and its near where I stay in LA.
Sam Wells
I'm kinda thinking I'll try and see it on 2K DLP. That way, I can have not just a cranky biased opinion here, but an INFORMED cranky biased opinion :D (Plus, I'll try and work my views on Canadian financing, Senate fillibusters and Revlon into my post somehow). I saw Phantom Menace both ways, as I was curious, not having seen an "over 1K" DLP. I saw the last one on film and remarked it looked less sharp than the S16 blown up "Monsoon Wedding" I'd seen in the same theater a month before. But this time I think I'll go the whole 9 yards (compressed to 2.6 yards no doubt B) I'm also considering comparing it unfavorably to Kodachrome. -Sam (are sorry you asked ?!)
