What we shoot what will read

Recommended Posts

The dialogue scene takes place in a Greenwich village apt two girls on a couch.

I want it to turn out that the areas of shadows in the background will in a few places be true black, but there will be also lighter dark areas where we could place some item.

When im lighting the set (on location) would it be incorrect to say that i need to illuminate the background area to what looks brighter to the naked on-location eye, in order to record the image that IN POST i will then bring down the blacks to true black and rely on establishing ratios onset...that will then end up better quality?

Is it correct to say that if not illuminated enough the camera will not have any image information?

Tryin to plan some details in parts of the shadows properly
