Tuan Doan
when i look through the viewfinder the image seems to be not fitted into its supposed frame slightly. in fact it looks like it's spun clockwise round its axis of rotation to a small degree. is this a common problem? It's a bolex SBM standard. got it from ebay. Edited September 21, 2016 by Tuan Doan
Premium Member Simon Wyss Posted September 21, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted September 21, 2016 Might be the eyepiece mask that is simply stuck into the tube from the front. When you remove the finder cover, four screws, you can insert the blade of a screwdriver, width about 5/16", and adjust the mask. If it’s not that, a deeper problem sits in like a deranged matte face cover, a displacement prism askew or, worst of all, the prism block stop out of adjustment. Then you would not be able to have sharp images on the film and on the matte face at the same time. To adjust this it takes an autocollimator or at the least a special setup with a test pattern at a defined distance.
