David Dominguez
hey everyone, I purchased a Bolex from my friend and it's strange because is said "H16 S" on it but it's a reflex camera and from what I've learned all of the "S" models are non-reflex. It even says H16 Reflex on the camera. Could it be possible that the label was added later ? here are some pics. https://imgur.com/a/d21XzGW any help is greatly appreciated thanks! Premium Member Simon Wyss Posted January 27, 2019 Premium Member Share Posted January 27, 2019 This or an S was reflexed. To find out, look whether you see a slotted screw head just behind the upper tip of the claw cover. If there’s one, it was an S, if not, you have an RX with the wrong name plate. Premium Member Simon Wyss Posted January 28, 2019 Premium Member Share Posted January 28, 2019 A designates the claw cover, the metal sheet. The screw I mean would be about where the arrow points to. You don’t need to remove the claw cover. The magazine saddle, by the way, is also not the original one. A camera full of surprises

Premium Member Simon Wyss Posted January 28, 2019 Premium Member Share Posted January 28, 2019 A Reflex nameplate would be available from Bolex international, Yverdon. The other thing that indicates a RX-4 was modified is the missing sprocket guides retainer fork and the steel aperture plate. Magazine models have a means for keeping the spring-loaded sprocket guides open and an anodized aluminum aperture plate. But you can film with that camera. Guess it wasn’t too expensive. Premium Member Simon Wyss Posted January 28, 2019 Premium Member Share Posted January 28, 2019 Well, the serial number says RX-5 but then again where’s the retainer fork? You know, the tapped base insert can be swapped. Four screws. Frankenstein’s monster

Premium Member Simon Wyss Posted January 29, 2019 Premium Member Share Posted January 29, 2019 With the two lenses? Bargain. I see a Switar 25 mm, f/1.4 and a Switar 10 mm, f/1.6. Do check whether they’re marked RX and, please, give us a view of the reflex prism from front.

Premium Member Simon Wyss Posted January 29, 2019 Premium Member Share Posted January 29, 2019 Looks good. Switar 10 is RX, Switar 25 ? Let’s see if Kodak brings Ektachrome in 16. Film Ferrania might be quicker. Caution: joke inside.
