  1. hey everyone, I'm shooting a doc on 16mm with a Bolex and i have a bunch of rolls of 250D I'm going to be working with. The location we're filming at is giving us a reading at around f1.4-2 so I was hoping to rate it at ISO 400 and push it a stop to close the lens down a tad. Anyone here done this with successful results? Would it better to rate it at 250 and just lift it in post? Thanks guys, really appreciate the advice!
  2. Hi everyone, Looking to see if anyone has EZ 2 with the FF kit available for sale. Hit me up if you have any leads. Thanks!
  3. Hey guys, Looking to sell my Bolex rex 5 in great working condition. I've had this camera for a few years now and am parting with it only because I don't use it as much as my other cameras. This particular Bolex was overhauled about a year ago by a great local technician. The camera was inspected, cleaned, lubed etc. I've shot only 2 rolls through it since and it worked perfectly. Here's some photos of the camera. https://imgur.com/a/vtlismk Here are a few films I've shot with this camera over the years: https://vimeo.com/388986395https://vimeo.com/384423107https://vimeo.com/175550470 Looking to get $1600. Prefer local pickup in Brooklyn. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!
  4. if you haven't done much shooting something a bit more straight forward like a Bolex rex 5 might be a great option for you. good luck!
  5. So I got it repaired by a local camera tech . He said the gate was a slightly too big and caused the left to right jiggle so he replaced it. He said he's seen that problem with newer model bolexs I'm going to run another test roll when I get her back
  6. you guys are the best. Thank you Dom, Simon, and Tyler. I always look forward to reading your insight on all things film/bolex on this forum.
  7. This is the first time I’ve shot on this particular camera. I Purchased it on eBay a few months ago.
  8. thank you both for your help. This job seems like it's for a pro and not me. Any recommendations on a great tech based in the US?
  9. thanks for the response Dom. There was no dirt buildup or debris in the gate nor does it look deformed to my knowledge. I've attached a few photos HERE to get a closer look. Can you tell me if you see anything that looks out of whack? I really appreciate the help!
  10. Hello everyone, I recently shot a test roll on my REX 5 H16 Bolex that unfortunately came back with jitters. The surprising thing is that that it starts to get more shaky the more the roll progresses. The beginning of the roll seems free of any unwanted shake. Everything was shot on a tripod, and the pressure plate was secured. You can see some of the footage here https://vimeo.com/420907018/6bdd739096 Any ideas of what can be causing it? Thanks a ton in advance
