Nathan Banning
Hi. I'm an Owner of an Arriflex 16 BL with a Tobin TXM-9 sync drive. Lately It will not hold sync (sync light comes on), in fact, the motor runs wild (50+ fps) and nothing changes if I switch speeds. I contacted Tobin guy who said it was probably a cable problem. I'm thinking it could be the battery (it's a 10 yo) 12V belt. But would a faulty cable or battery cause cause this non-sync? Thanks.
Bruce McNaughton
What's happened here is that you have reversed the polarity of your input source and you have blown up the T03 transistor (easily located on the motor.) You will need to have it replaced and then carefully check your lead and connectors to prevent it happening again Regards Bruce
Mark A. Rapp
I had the same problem with my 16BL shooting my first film. My DP and I realized that the thing was geared for 24fps, though, so we just took off the synch module and shot without. The camera shot at a normal 24fps without fail and the footage synched up fine in post.
