what is Anamorphic?

Recommended Posts

Guest jbraver

I have yet to see a good, basic explanation of the anamorphic format. Does anyone if there is one online?

Thanks,

Jake

Here are some good links that explain what anamorphic is and where it came from:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anamorphic

http://www.theasc.com/magazine/june05/postfocus/index.html

I'm sure there are others that can talk about the aesthetic value of using them, I haven't used them personally. The only thing I really know about them is that you get really cool looking lens flares off of them.

other link:

http://www.widescreenmuseum.com/widescreen/lobby.htm - click on the different "Icons" to view info about variouse kinds of "Animorphic Photography". You will see them, such as "Todd-ao" and "Cinerama"... just clikc those logos and it will explain a lot.

also explore around that website, as it is loaded with tons of info about animorphic cinematography.
