PJBarry
Hey all, I've got a place in town that could take the BETA tapes from the telecine and transfer to uncompressed DVD in AVI format. I'm editing on Media 100 which accepts AVI format. But the MAC has a CD-ROM. Is it possible to extract files from a DVD on a CD-ROM? I'm assuming no, but I wanted some other opinions. I know that CDs can hold all of about 30 seconds of uncompressed video...which isn't really going to work. Thanks to all who reply. Really No? You could probably plug a DVD reader into the Mac, even if only USB. Phil

A CD-ROM drive will not recognize a DVD. Unless you were talking about extracting the files from the DVD via a DVD-ROM drive, then burning them onto a CD. Then yes, as long as the files don't exceed 700MB. EDIT: Bah. Phil beat me. :P
