Hello,

I recently bought a stuck non-reflex Bolex (1949) for pretty cheap. I took it apart, oiled it, and now it runs great. One small thing I'm unsure of is the pressure plate. You can see in the image that the plate is not perfectly aligned with the film gate, so there's a sliver of the shiny rail that's showing through the gate. I was wondering if this was normal, and if not, is it a problem? I haven't shot motion picture film before, so I'm not sure how opaque the film backing is, and whether or not it would prevent light from passing through the film and reflecting off the pressure plate.

Thanks,

Joe

If I had the camera with me, I’d adjust that for free. It’s too difficult to explain. Maybe you’d like to have the camera serviced anyway.
