F Bulgarelli
Hello there, Someone gave me a bunch of 7248 short ends, it's a stock I really like. They are about 3 years old and have been kept in a cellar at very low temperatures. I will probably do a snip test before I use them. Will unexposed filmstocks preserve that long when kept under those conditions? Thanks for your help. Francisco

Francisco <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If they were kept cool and "in a cellar", you hopefully will find minimal change in the characteristics -- most likely only a bit of fogging and slight increase in graininess. A bit of overexposure will help compensate. Do have your lab run clip tests. This assumes that they were not mishandled (e.g., can left in the sun, accidently x-rayed) before being put back into cool storage. Picturing film stored "in a cellar" draws the analogy of film being like fine wine. Cool and dark storage is usually most appropriate, although Kodak sells each "vintage" near the peak of its quality, so there's no need to "age" it any further.
