Stef de Hoog
When shooting on a MFT sensor, in my case an Lumix GH6, do the characteristics of the focal length of the glass stay the same? For example: Let's say you want to shoot a nice portrait shot. Because of the so called 'crop factor' you would use a focal length of 25mm instead of the usual 50mm, to have the same frame. However would mean that the subject in the frame would have the characteristics of the 25mm? And does this then mean it is still better to use a real 50mm (which becomes a 100mm) to get the best portrait shot?
Raymond Zrike
These two videos amount to a decent explanation. The internet is filled with completely incorrect information regarding the “crop factor,” so it’s hard to find a good intro video to the topic. But he does a pretty good job. Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted June 28, 2022 Premium Member Share Posted June 28, 2022 Facial proportions and perspective are controlled by distance from lens to subject, not focal length.
