Movies were big as they were cheap and it was the closest thing to yet to be invented TV. The average person saw 1 or more movies per week. In the beginning of the newsreel there is a crazy sport. College riders on horses pushing a humongous ball on the field with the horses. Maybe a takeoff on polo, just with a giant ball and no mallets.
