Color Correction

I am shooting a short on DVcam. I have shot stuff on DV cam but have never really tried tweaking the look in post. I just tend to shoot and edit. Do people out there tend to color correct and alter the look quite a bit in post? Is there a lot you can do with just Final cut pro or is there a particulour program which can help play with your image.

I can't speak for FCP, but I do something to all my stuff in Vegas (for PC), using the color curves, color corrector, and sometimes other tools. Some people go crazy with the after FX and to stuff to make DV productions look higher end. If you want, give me your email and I can show you stills comparing raw footage to final product, if you want. I'm not saying you'll be impressed, but it's something.
