  1. Sorry for what may be a simple question (I'm quite new at this) Does the Sony F3 have an internal spot meter of any type? I cant seem to find it but from what Ive read there should be one, I think. Jason
  2. About 3 years ago I shot a short documentary on Kodak 7222. I have not shot anything since, but have been thinking about it lately. I have quite a few roles of stock left in my freezer...they have never been taken out and have never been opned, but they have been in there for a few years. What does everyone think? Should I just suck up the cost and buy some new stock, or would it be reasonably safe to use this stuff up?
  3. I had the pleasure of meeting her a few times. Incredibly friendly and helpful. So sad.
  4. Hey everybody...not bringing back this thread because of what it was about but what was in it. There was discussion of Helen Hill and her book Recipe for disaster...I came acoss some disturbing news and a loss for the film making community. www.helenhill.org
  5. Should be easy to find a diagram how to do it. I agree with poster above, I believe its in the ACS manual. It is pretty easy compared to a lot of cameras.
  6. I just saw "First Knight" on television the other night. It was bad....but not in a good way.
  7. Anyone have any opinions on this camera? Pros and Cons? Can anyone send me to a link to see some footage from this cam or know of anything shot using it? Just curious.
  8. I could put up a short clip of one if i could figure out how. How do I get a clip up on the net? I am not very tech savy.
  9. I really liked it. I liked the hand held....so I wouldnt worry about that. One thing....sometimes the text could be up for a second more, especially the longer ones. Its nice to be able to fully read text and have another second to soak it in before it disapears. I have made a few short docs and know how hard it can be when you take an organic approach, as you say have done in this case. I think you made a really great effort and a really nice short film.
  10. Looks great. Can you talk about what the gear was and how you got such a great look? Jason
  11. I have a copy of recipes for disaster around here, somewhere, and it is quite good.
  12. I have a morse tank. Not sure what it is worth. I will see if I can put up a pic in the next day or so. Jason
  13. I am shooting a short on DVcam. I have shot stuff on DV cam but have never really tried tweaking the look in post. I just tend to shoot and edit. Do people out there tend to color correct and alter the look quite a bit in post? Is there a lot you can do with just Final cut pro or is there a particulour program which can help play with your image.
  14. I had the same questions a few years ago. I had an interest in politics and film. I am now finishing up my Political Studies Ba, and working on my second documentary. I guess my point is, you can work on both, regardless of which you are studying in school. The two go so well together, and each has helped me in the other study.
  15. Quick question. Is the show "Intervention" shot on Dv cam? Any idea which cameras are used?
  16. Just a question. I am shooting a Doc and the setting is mostly bars, pubs, and similar atmospheres that always have music in the background. If this music is recorded while I am shooting, I assume I then need coyrights for all this music? For example, If I am in a bar shooting and AC/DC is blasting, I will then need proper licensing for this use even thought it was not necessarily by choice to have the music?
  17. I shot a project on the NPR last year. It was a B/W doc. I used an old set of prime lenses. I liked using it. It was pretty easy to use although a bit awkard. I would recommend it if it were available to you, as I have enjoyed it in the past. But then again, I am no expert!
  18. Yea. I had some footage transfered to DVcam at one place. In my final bill they charged me 50 bucks for each blank DVcam tape they used. I now send all my own tapes!
  19. "2. record one track at one level and the other track at a vastly reduced gain level to make sure you don't have any peaks." This is what I have done. It seems to work, but im no expert!
  20. I have shot a lot of 7222 double-x footage and I am thinking of playing with some plus-x film for a change. How does the plus-x look compare to the double-x 16mm? I generally like the double-x, even if it is a bit grainy. Is the plus-x signifigantly less grainy?
  21. Thanks, i actually got off the phone with one house just now.
  22. I have ten hours of footage I shot and transfered to dvcam for my offline edit. The footage is in super 16 blw film. I have cut it down to approx. 1 hour. Now I want to send it back to the lab for final transfer to Dbeta for my online. I also want to do a bit of shot grading in the telecine process. Is there a way I can estimate the average cost for my neg cut and the graded transfer cost according to 10 hours of footage being cut and transfered at highest possible quality? What is a good estimate?
