  1. You don't necessarily need to have a deck. You can ask to have your super 8 transferred to digital files on an external hard drive. This is mainly what my company does, we transfer super 8 and 16mm film at 1080p 4:2:2 and you can get uncompressed .avi files as well as HD MPEG-2 and WMV9 files if you want to save on hard drive space. Obviously the uncompressed is the best choice if you are looking to do an "online editing session" later on and you can always down-convert the files to make it easier to work in FCP. Feel free to contact me - eugene@filmtransfer.com or check out my website www.filmtransfer.com . All the best, Eugene.
  2. You can email me direct at eugene@filmtransfer.com
  3. My company also offers tapeless HD uncompressed telecine. We use blackmagic codec and results are really good, considering we only charge $.30/ft for 16mm and $.40/ft for 8mm/s8mm. Message me in private as we can setup do to a test roll free. ~Eugene www.filmtransfer.com
  4. I don't know anything about the Viper or Genesis personally, but I did see those vertical lines which makes me thing it was a digital video transcoding problem. It was weird. ~Eugene www.filmtransfer.com
  5. While we're not doing a traditional telecine on a flying spot scanner, we have a proprietary setup that captures direct to hard drive HD 1080p uncompressed as 8 bit 4:2:2 .avi. This results in 70GB for a 10 minute piece. Best, ~ Eugene www.filmtransfer.com eugene@filmtransfer.com
  6. We actually have little idea what the demand will be once we start offering the high-def service this upcoming week. It could be a matter of "if you build it they will come", that's kinda how we got into the business in the first place. We're hoping to inform people that HD does offer greater quality, as is visible when comparing any HD broadcast to their SD counterpart. The way we will deliver is mostly standard-def versions of the high-def transfer and high-def files for future copying to compatible HD viewing devices such as H.264/MPEG-2/VC-1/HDV for burning onto Blu-ray/HD-DVD. - Eugene Gekhter www.filmtransfer.com eugene@filmtransfer.com
  7. Thanks. We used a Canon XL H1. Just a rough sample really. We just picked the first super 8 clip that came through so it's not the best example of what the camera is capable of. If anybody is interested we can do a roll or two for free using this technology. Contact me by email at eugene@filmtransfer.com. Thanks.
  8. We've been using Workprinter-XP machines for four years with great results. We recently added a HD-SDI capture to maximize the possibilities with such a setup. Here are a few 1080P WMV files. More info to come soon on our website - www.filmtransfer.com 8mm - http://www.filmtransfer.com/Media/DTS_HD_1..._Sample_8mm.wmv s8mm - http://www.filmtransfer.com/Media/DTS_HD_1...Sample_S8mm.wmv 16mm - http://www.filmtransfer.com/Media/DTS_HD_1...Sample_16mm.wmv - Eugene Gekhter President Digital Transfer Systems eugene@filmtransfer.com www.filmtransfer.com
  9. Hello, We do NTSC and HD 16mm telecine. NTSC -$.12/ft HD - $.40/ft First reel is on us. Thanks, Eugene Gekhter www.filmtransfer.com
  10. Hello, I've added high-definition telecine to our companies services. We use www.moviestuff.tv Workprinter-XP together with the Canon H1 HD-SDI to transfer 8mm/s8mm/16m to uncompressed 4:2:2 1920x1080p. Thanks, Eugene Gekhter www.filmtransfer.com
  11. We've setup a relatively inexpensive uncompressed/HDV telecine system solution. We use Workprinter-XP units from www.moviestuff.tv with Canon-XL H1 running HD-SDI straight to Decklink 4:2:2 single-link in 8-bit. Telecine is frame-accurate and can be output to HDV tape at 1080i or HD-ROM with WMV9 at 1080p, HDV at 1080i, and uncompressed 8-bit at 1080p. 16mm-HD-Frame-Grab Our company charges $.30/ft for HDV and $.35/ft for uncompressed which equates to $648.00/$756.00 respectively per hour of telecine. We are looking to attract new clients to try out our service and are willing to do a 100 foot test roll for only the price of shipping back ($10.00). Please email all inquiries to eugene@filmtransfer.com.
