  9. Hi! I need to find out the accurate focal length conversion for HD focal lengths when compared to 35mm focal lengths (i.e. what is the HD lens equivalent of the 35mm format's 18mm, 25mm, etc.?) Thanks!
  10. Hi! I am wondering if you are supposed to shoot 4x3 or 16:9 while using the 35mm lens adapter? in the end how does the application of the 35mm lens adaptor effect the aspect ratio? thanks. /mikus.
  11. Hey there! I am having a 1.2K HMI on the set today and the sony FX1, shooting 1080i 30fps. I am unsure about the ballast, if its flicker free or Magnetic. If it turns out to be Magnetic, do I set the shutter speed to 1/60 or what is the process? and if its the flicker free ballast I dont got nothing to worry about right? my intendend shutter speed is 1/48. appreciate any help! thanks! /mikus
  12. Hey! have a question with what grip equipment i would best and safest attach a 24x24 inch mirror onto a c stand? thanks.
  13. Hey! have a question regarding track choice. I am shooting on a pebbled road and also in grass, and will have the fisher dolly model 10, is there a difference in smoothness going with the square tracks? I am planning to have a gentle curve track aswell. they couldnt really help me out at the rental place over the phone. so am relying on your experiences. also wondering if the sachtler video 20 tripod head will fit onto the dolly (another thing the rental place was unsure of) thanks!
  14. Hi! I am thinking of relocating from Boston to L.A in cupple months, But have no idea about how the work situation looks like down there. I am a cinematographer that graduated in March from a filmschool in Poland. I would like the experience that L.A has to offer. I am interested in camera operating, gaffing, grip, AC, still photography. but where does one go? where does one look? and does one have to be in the union? In MA they have central booking- where one pays a fee and they call you up if there are any jobs in the area.- they are intouch with all the production companies. Is there someting similar in L.A? How does one join the union? I am hoping for some names. Thanks.
  15. hey. preparing for a shoot daytime to night. where the music band and camera will be on an open truck and will be in motion (slow speed) want one frontal light that I will diffuse. But since will be on a truck driving around town all day (no power supply) what light would be strong enough and give daylight - I am thinking a small HMI- with regular (cheep) generator (but that is a problem when we also need the sound for the band to hear the music. This will be shot digital- so dont want to blow out the background. would you think a regular white bounce card would do the trick? but still need some light for shooting at night.
  16. Hi. wondering what good movies I could watch for lighting inspiration. shooting at dusk and want to use neon signs as source.
  17. hey preparing for a shoot on the dvx 100A, wondering about the detail mode in the scene file settings, there is one thin, middle and thick one. what would be optimal setting?
  18. ok, so I am all set with the shutter speed 1/60 as I shoot in progressive mode 24p. so how does the synchro scan fit in in all of this? I notice that the shutter speed you cant set to 1/48 on the panasonic 100A (goes 1/24 then 1/60) but you can set the synchro scan to 1/48. so is this what you are talking about? or do I set the shutter speed to 1/60 and the syncro scan to 1/60 aswell. I am a bit confused, hope you can set this straight for me.. (is this only when shooting televisions or goes for fluorescent light aswell?)
  19. this is all very helpful!!! thanks!!:) I only have a last question(s)- What do you regularly set the shutter to when shooting regular tungsten or daylight- 1/60 as well, while shooting 24fps? when I shoot 30p I have it set to 1/60 by default so am wondering what is correct? shooting sport where there is running or an action scene I set the shutter to 1/250 to get that stutter, more sharper image, is there a nother more typical shutter speed to set it to?
  20. Hi! I am going to shoot a hallway with fluorescents, and need to know what to set the shutter for on the panasonic dvx-100a (NTSC), going on 24p to eliminate flickering? Also will shoot a computer screen. Advise would be appreciated. Am also interested in knowing the equivalent for Pal settings for future reference. cheers.
  21. what mini-dv tapes would best register this look? I know if I wanted to shoot on film I would go with Fuji. Would you have any suggestions?
  22. Hi! I am preparing for a shoot on digital. I want to obtain a raw greenish look by geling a cool kinoflo with what I think is called "plus green" gel. I dont want to obtain a heavy greenish look, but something light. Any suggestions or input on this?
