  1. Thanks Saul. That is really good advice. I am going to process it normally without a clip test. I do not think the footage was too under exposed so this should work out.
  2. I just finished shooting a documentary for a electronic music festival. For the night party scenes we used 7218 500t. My light meter was useless in that situation because the light levels were so low. I ended up shooting wide open (f-2) and I under cranked the camera to about 18-20 fps. I wanted to know if I should request a 1 stop push process to be safe or if that would cause too much of a quality loss. There are some areas on these rolls that were exposed correctly so how much would they be affected by the push process. Thanks.
  3. They just spent a few years making the latest edition from a bunch of 35 mm prints. Why would it take them a few more years to add in about 20 minutes from a 16mm print. It really is a great movie. One thing that always gets me when watching a very old movie is the thought that everybody who worked on, acted in or produced the movie is gone and dead. But the movie they made is still in great condition and tells the story they wanted to tell. It will never change...
  4. Bruce: He might be the Joker, but this is one serious son of a b***h Bruce spits on the ground to show that he is the man. The spit splashes on the ground in slowmotion (*note to self- make it really really slow motion)
  5. EXT. GOTHAM CITY (Golden Hour) Batman drives out of his garage in slow motion. He fights the joker for about 40 minutes. Gotham City is leveled but the joker escapes. Bat Man Damn, he isn't funny.... but he sure is fast. * commence act two
  6. To the person who offered to sell me the 12-120mm ( sorry i lost your message). Have you been able to find out if there are any available? Thanks.
  7. Hi I have an arriflex 16s and am looking to replace my two primes with a zoom. It should preferably go to about 12mm at the widest although I would be willing to consider anything. Also, I have about 250 dollars to spend. Thanks alot Zamir Merali
  8. I work at a camera store and I would say you should definitely go for the 300. The aforementioned reasons are good enough but nikon also changed the entire chip design from the 200 to the 300. This gives you more colour depth and even more subtle changes in tone are visible. I find that the main difference when looking at an 8x10 from both cameras side by side is not the increases in resolution (because 2.3 MP isn't noticeable below a 11x17 print), it's the colour that stands out.
  9. Canada. The World Electronic Music Festival is running its last year and I thought it would be a great opportunity to make a documentary. I want to let people know what the rave culture is really like. It's not just maniacs dancing on Ecstasy although that's what it looks like when you look at random eye candy footage. Any tips on how to actually film the dancing parts?
  10. This is an outdoor festival and it is supposed to go for three days straight. I bought some 64d and some 500t. So i guess il use as much 500t as i have on the night scenes and then shoot the rest during the day. It won't matter if the colours are a little strange at night because the night scenes are supposed to be more dancy and music videoish. The interviews should set nicely on 64d. What were you shooting in Brazil? Is it on the internet anywhere? Also do you know of any other documentaries about raves and electronic music that actually have substance? Thanks.
  11. I have the opportunity to also buy some 500T. Will 500T at night, during a party with lots of lighting effects look alright? I really do not know how bright the strobes and effects would be. Thanks.
  12. Hi guys I'm going to be shooting this documentary about the World Electronic Music Festival in July. I was planning to shoot it on 16mm and found a good deal of some fuji 125 vivid stock. However, this festival is essentially a big rave and I wanted some advice from any of you who have shot rave parties before. Will 125 speed film suffice. I'm not too sure what else to ask but if any of you have some advice that you have gained from experience please share. Thanks alot.
  13. How many 100 rolls do you have? Thanks. I live in Canada but I am taking a trip down to San Fransisco in a month coincidentally.
  14. Hi I'm looking for some 16mm colour reversal film. This stuff is hard to get anywhere except the manufacturer and i am not willing to pay 180 dollars a roll for the things I am planning to shoot. Does anyone have some extra (any length will do) that they would be kind enough to sell to me. The age of the film doesn't really matter as long as it isn't Kodachrome. thanks
  15. I just finished making an MOS feature with an arriflex 16s. As long as you get enough cutaways you can make a decent soundtrack if you're willing to spend ridiculous amounts of time. I did it and I will never do it again. I doubt the movie will be seen by many unless a festival that I send it to takes a liking to it. So far I'm just finished the colour correcting and mastering the sound track.
