  1. Anthem www.thedoorpost.com/freedom/anthem I shot this last year on the Canon XHA1. I was a little worried that the camera's HDV wasn't going to live up to my standards since the previous thing I shot was on the HVX. I was actually very impressed with the image the camera produced.
  2. Does setting it to encode as quicktime either decrease the quality of the file or increase the file size? Sorry, I'm very unfamiliar with this. Oh and for the files we already have in .m2t format what can we do?
  3. I have a question about the workflow with the JVC GY-HD100. We are shooting HDV to a firestore and then downloading the firestore to a hard drive at the end of the day. My question is this, Is there anyway that I can just log and transfer these files using FCP? I keep seeing people telling me to use MPEG streamclip. The camera isn't that old, surely JVC or apple or someone released a plug-in for FCP. Is there a better way?
  4. I can't remember exactly, but I think these were shot at a 2.6 or below except for the shot in the jail. I think that was a 3.6 or around there. I wasn't the DP. We did have zebra on but I dont know what setting. And yes it was 24F.
  5. This camera is excellent in low light, I was very surprise with the way the shots turned out.
  6. I'm using 6.02. When I export-> quicktime conversion-> using the default settings I get the correct aspect ratio. When I choose to export->quicktime conversion-> broadband medium (choosing to preserve aspect ratio with letterbox) it exports it incorrectly.
  7. I am trying to export a small sequence that is in 16X9 shot with the HVX. The problem is when I play the exported quicktime it's not the correct aspect ratio. What am I doing wrong?
  8. Ok I'll do that. They said that the electronics are fixed and they want $275 just to re-calibrate. Im not sure it's worth it. I dont think I spent half of that on it from ebay.
  9. They fixed the electronics, but the light meter needs to be re-calibrated. ... Come on man, I'm not a dumbass. Of course I tried that. ;)
  10. So, should I fix t for $275 or try to get an 814 on ebay for less than $100.
  11. They want $275 for the repair. They fixed the electronics and they want that much to recalibrate it. Is it worth it?
  12. I will try this. If the battery compartment is similar to the battery compartment o the side of the camera then there might be a problem getting the Q-tip to make contact with metal inside. There seems to be a little plastic that keeps the spring in place. I unscrewed the few screws on the pistol grip and was unable to take it apart. I guess I will try a super 8 camera repair service. thanks. How likely is is that the damage ruined my camera?
  13. I bought the WD-40 pen but its too fat to fit into the hand grip. Should I take apart the camera? How do I even get directions to take it apart.
  14. I wanted to use my canon 1014 to shoot inserts for a music video today. I get to set and I notice that the electronics don't work. The batter check needle doesn't move and nothing happens when I pull the trigger. I opened the battery compartment in the pistol grip to find that one of the batteries has leaked. It wasn't a whole bunch but I guess enough to stop the camera from working. Is there anything I can do myself to clean it? Is it expensive to fix?
  15. So this is filtered fine, just under exposed. I need to make a chart because the filer thing is still a little confusing. If I have daylight film what do i do if Shooting outdoors Shooting Indoors If I have tungsten film what do i do if Shooting outdoors Shooting indoors
  16. That means the filter is usually in the on position?
  17. I used cinelab. Now that I think about it I think it was 64T. When using the canon 1014 there isa little screw on the bottom with a lightbulb on it. How do I know when to use it and when not to?
  18. I shot a roll of Kodak 200T as a camera test. I used a Canon 1014 AZ Is this normal? It looks pretty bad? What went wrong? https://webspace.utexas.edu/gcj58/Super%208...mera%20Test.mov
  19. I am buying a new mac with the intention of editing HD. Are there minimum specs I should keep in mind? The two most promising options are the 15" macbook pro or a macpro Tower. 15" macbook Pro $2,299 2.4 GHz intel core 2 GB ram MacPro $2,568 (would also need to buy a monitor) Two 2.66 GHz Dual Core 2GB ram
  20. I have been contacted to edit an HD feature movie. It's 90 minutes shot with two cameras. I have never edited a feature before, and I was wondering what a fair price would be? I'm willing to get paid a little less since this is my first time.
  21. I have never made a reel before. Is this any good? What are some tips? https://webspace.utexas.edu/gcj58/Reel.mov
  22. It was a B.B. Gun. I shot myself on accident on set with it and I didnt even bleed. It hurts less than a paintball gun.
  23. CP-16s dont have registration pins...
