  1. Dear friends, WI am looking to buy Russian Foton 37-140 Zoom, in a decent mechanical condition, glass is less important as I do have other Foton with pristine glass but mechnaically it is useless. please send offers to: pawel.saladziak@littlesword.pl best regards pawel
  2. Thanks, looks like I found some helpful attorney now, I will report my case here. I think David Giancola has started his business again, so if one thinks that it is a good idea, please call him and ask about my camera - where it is. He hangs up the phone wen I call, so maybe someone will have more luck than me?
  3. what is the "local clerk office" ? kind of sheriff or what? I published the whole story here: http://web.me.com/pawel.saladziak/Beware_of_David_Giancola/ all details are there, first page is brief description, if one need more, then should download 15 pages .PDF and .ZIP file that includes our email history, sworn-translated bank certificates and more... screenshots from ebay messaging system etc... simply - only facts. If anyone is interested in helping me - please contact me, currently I am looking for an attorney that would fill my claim in Superior Court in Rutland, looks like one by one attorneys do not want to represent me because of interest conflict.
  4. Bad feeling, as the camera was paid by my Ltd company and is our cost, duties are small, and we are able to have them lowered in Poland, close to nothing. I was to pick up the camera in person to be assured that it is in fully working order. Right now I received quite reliable information that make me 95% sure that Mr. David Giancola is lying to me, and pretends that Edgewood is bankrupt, they may be close to bankruptcy but Rutland authorities claims Giancola has not filed for it. When asked for contact details of bank officer that is responsible for taking over my camera he pointed me to a man that I was not able to find and is unknown in bank pointed by Giancola, he also gave false e-mail address to people interested in helping me. Stopped picking up the phone, answer sms, e-mail... etc. But I am still having hope for this 5% to become the real truth. Hope never dies :)
  5. Its illegal for me to get to US without visa, so I had to wait.
  6. Dear Hal, thank you very much - this is the advice that I was waiting. To update you and other colleagues I can add the following facts: 1. I used the "Buy It Now" option to block the sale and emailed (via ebay messaging system) the seller of the ebay action - no result in contacting him. In the auction's description he claims to be Mr. Jeremy Hanson C.C.S. (I do not know these three last letters mean) Below is my message body (edgemovie is the seller's name and littlesword is my company's name): "Welcome edgemovie, You are trying to sell my camera. I paid for this camera 7549USD to mr. Giancola. He confirmed money being received on 10th of august 2010 - and I have proofs of money being wired to Edgewood's account. Because of some circumstances I was unable to fly to US to pick up the camera. And now I see it is listed on ebay!!! Please give your phone numebr as I need to call you and discuss how and when can I pick up the camera that is already mine. - littlesword2010 I was hoping for ANY kind of reply - even the one that I need to pay some money or something. I received NO REPLY, instead of reply I also received a message form ebay messaging system that seller wants to cancel the transaction as in his opinion I clicked buy it now by an accident. I do not want to accuse anyone but lack of contact looks like bad will on the other side. 2. I found on facebook man Called Jeremy Jackson currently he is in Vermont (15km from Vermont exactly). He is the only person that I found on internet named Jeremy Jackson and located in Vermont. What more, his age (there are photos there) similar to the age of the Jeremy Jackson from Edgewood that I was talking to via phone several times (David Giancolas secretary assitant or similar position in the company). I sent him a message asking to contact me - no result, but I see that he posts messages to his board on Facebook all the time. I think he is "my Jeremy" as he changed recently his phone number and that fits to the fact that Jeremy Jackson from Edgewood changed his cell number too. When I called his number that I got from his email I only hear his voice mail leaving his new number. No answers on new number. 3. Pictures used in ebay listing are the same pictures that David Giancola sent me to describe the camera before the initial payment. I have 2 questions in my mind: 1. I have documents proofing that I paid for the camera (bank certificates for wire transfers) and also I have an email from David Giancola that he received full amount of money (and that I will have to pay the state tax while picking the camera in Edgewood). I do not know American law, but in Poland - if one can provide authorities with documents ensuring them that he paid for the item then in terms of law he is the owner of the item. Is it the same or similar in US, paticulary in Vermont? 2. I saw that there is Jeremy Jackson's father's profile on Facebook. Is it a good practice to contact him privately and ask if Jeremy is the person that worked in Edgewood and asking him for contact details? best regards Pawel
  7. Dear Colleagues, I need help, advices what to do. I am located in Poland (Europe) independent producer. In August 2010 I payed 7549$ for the camera that I bought from Mr David Giancola (formerly president of Edgewood Studios in Rutland VT), payment was done in parts, all were documented wire transfers to Edgewood's account . Due to some circumstances (visa, and scheduled jobs) I could not fly to US to pick up the camera immediately. 8 months has passed and while I was looking for some BNCR optics on e-bay I spotted my camera! http://cgi.ebay.com/CP-Cinema-Products-XR-35-Studio-Techniscope-Camera-MINT-/130506028815 It was offered by user named edgemovie. I called Edgewood and some guy that was in the building informed me that company goods were taken over by some bank. Then I clicked Buy it now of course as I wanted to prevent camera being sold for the second time. I cannot contact anyone from Edgewood Studios. I do not know what to do, I want to get in touch with person/company who is in possession of my camera. Could anyone help me, give advice what to do? Is there any official way i could proceed? Claim anything to someone? best regards Pawel
  8. Maybe you could contact RED too, maybe they have some way for disabling the cameras or finding them by software updates or so... who knows? best regards Pawel
  9. Could you send me contact phone to Ken Stone? I am to receive Cinema Products CP35XR camera and the previous owner says that Ken is the best person to work on modification of the camera. my email is: pawel.saladziak@mac.com thanks
  10. Awaiting my CP35XR

  11. Hi, do you want to sell it? If so then please contact me at pawel.saladziak@mac.com best regards pawel
  12. Hi. I would like to buy it. Could you contact me off-list? my email is: pawel.saladziak@mac.com best regards Pawel
  13. Hey Paul. The project is going well. I have very nice working scanner here. (see this link: http://gallery.me.com/pawel.saladziak#1000...p;bgcolor=black , it was in my apartment then, now I have moved with al the machinery to my private small lab). Here you can see the very first scan's preview: http://gallery.me.com/pawel.saladziak#1000...p;bgcolor=black Currently I am in the beginning of preparing the professional demo-reel for low cost & high quality scanning services. But i have a doubt - and that is where my question come from. I have scanning software that has presets for some older kodak stocks including Vision first generation stock. I have an opportunity to get the setting files for latest stock together with test strip etc... but it costs of course, and currently I do not have space in budget for this. But IF the differences in color recording on Vision2 and 3 versus Vision are noticeable, then well maybe I should really look for money to get these newest stock settings. The man that offers me this upgrade claims that this will move cineon scanner to the same quality of color reproduction that you have with new generation scanners. So that is why I am asking. Maybe it will be worth to cut down some useless expenses (like food for example  ) for several weeks to enlarge my post production tool budget.... best regards Pawel
  14. Hi. I am looking forward some information about the differences (or maybe some comparison table) between Vision, Vision2 and Vision3 in term of color reproduction. Particularly if new generation stocks has better color reproduction than earlier version or it is just the getting the grain smaller and smaller from generation to generation? best regards Pawel
  15. Hi, I am looking for a 16mm Oxberry movement.
  16. Well, I think that 1. they already choosed to shoot on film, 2. picture shoot on HD differs from this what you get by shooting on film, isn't it?. 3. They even decided already to shoot 35mm (so camera rentals and stock aquisition decisions are probably made and timelined). 4. Is HD really going to be simpler? I do not know. I do not know even if DI for grain and grading is going to be harder than pushing and testing and all the processing manipulations. What I know is that DI simply gives them much much more controls over the image that they will capture. As this is a diploma film with limited budget (they can have DI for free, both scanning and grading and graining and some other vfx) thay can capture all the picture without putting it into shape that cannot be modified after some steps and have freedom and comfort of deciding in the post (still for free) what look and grain they like. Of course there is factor of time there. But I assume they rather insist on the better result than shorter time of production. So maby it is not the discussion of what is complex or simple, but of this what will let them work more freely. But it is only my point of view and like always it could be wrong.
  17. Yeah but this would be done in post, you can manipulate there size of grain particles, amount of grain particles, select colour layers respectively to manipulate grain on, even select the kind of grain according to the stock that you used, so after all when you have frame with the grain and grade that you like, do you still see the reason to crop it?
  18. Yeah, I know, but what for? He is shooting on 35mm, so as I assume the prints will also be on 35mm stock. If he is going to use DI, then all the grain in term of size, quantity, and specs will be added in Inferno, also all of grading is probably going to be done there, so what is the reason for cropping that?
  19. Maybe I do not get it right.... I was thinking that what Shubham wanted is just to add more and maybe a custom grain and grade the shots to make it looking older. So what is the reason for cropping?
  20. Before first shooting they were tested and cleaned by an old and experienced tech guy form Polish Film School in Lodz that runs a camera department there. All gear for sale have signs of use but none of this signs affect quality of shooting. All optics are checked and cleaned by optician. First camera was brought from US (california) from filmmaker Roco Belic from Wadirum productions and second camera was brought from Germany from Ole Dost. Additionally for almost all of these gear are both hard and soft cases. I can scan and send frames from both reversal and negative (color and B&W) stock shot with this cameras. Picture of the whole set: http://gallery.me.com/pawel.saladziak#100013 More photos upon request. My price is: 1350 US dollars. Shipping cost and optional insurance is to be payed by buyer. I am selling because it sits in my place with no use for almost 6 months.
  21. Maybe It would be a solution for you to consider a DI? I just have started working with my Cineon scanner and I need various footage to create a demo-reel. I am scanning with up to 4k full aperture, 10bit DPX or CIN. I also have here nice Inferno set, used by me just for learning, and I can grade your footage there and manage grain in as many ways as you would like to :) My interest is to have material for my demo and you will have our footage scanned, and graded in very professional way just at cos of sending the stock here. To make sure of safe shipping you can always ask your foreign affairs ministry to send it via diplomatic post to your embassy in poland. The only caveat is that the result will be digital file (of your choice), so if stock print is needed, you have to find a optical printer that can print from digital files. If you are interested then write me back.
  22. O yes, indeed :) specially for freelancing Don Kichote's like me :) Believe it or not, but it was cheaper for me to buy, transport and revitalize the cine scanner for me than put into my budget digitalization costs. Scanner is running perfectly now and only thing that I am dealing with right now is getting rid of a dust in scanner's room. So every beginning DP that needs free professional scanning now is welcomed as for first half of year my service will be free of any charges on every service up to 18000 frames. This is a limited option for first 25 DP's or producers or any cinematography.com members that want to have their footage turned into DI. And by the way, does anyone knows where to put such an announcement. Pawel.
  23. If you have COLOR and proper hardware that let you work in this app, you should try to utilize this, unless you do not have to deal with tight budget. At this moment it is not a big deal to find resources and tutorials to learn basics of color correction and grading especially for working in COLOR. As you said you work also in FCP, and there after you select a proper sequence in timeline, you can apply a video filter (Menu: Effects-> Video Filters-> Color Correction (there you will fin good tools). What is fine with this is that you can apply several filters on every sequence, every prameter can be animated.... regards Pawel
