  1. I can highly recommend a recent gem from my country, Denmark, namely Armadillo which won the critics award at Cannes. It's cinematographer Lars Skree shot everything himself except from some headmounted cameras on the soldiers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91A0MCZWjm8&feature=related
  2. Of course, makes sense. So if we were to assume that he wants to use the 435 Extreme as the camera anyways, would it be correct to say that a shutter of 11.2 plus an ND9 would give the correct exposure?
  3. Wouldn't that affect the motion blur of the image too much, you know, too much "gladiator-effect"? :-) Is there a disadvantage of stacking ND's?
  4. I am just trying to answer his question, I am not debating whether or not it is an efficient way of shooting it.
  5. Does anyone know why I cannot edit my posts? Or am I missing some button somewhere? :-) Am I wrong when I say that the difference between 1/0.30 and 1/48 are 7+1/4 stops? The calculation: 0.30*2 1 stop 0.60*2 1 stop 1.2*2 1 stop 2.4*2 1 stop 4.8*2 1 stop 9.6*2 1 stop 19,2*2 1 stop 38,4*1.25 0.25 stops = 48 Which would mean that an ND9+ND9+ND3 would take seven stops of light away, the remaining 0.25 would have to be by changing the shutter, right?
  6. The AC said only what I posted in my original post. I can just answer that I take it that 5.6 is the proper exposure, and then I can say that in order to determine correct exposure I would have to know ISO, etc. So if we say that exposure time is 3-1/3 then how would I get the ND's needed in front of the lens? I would have to figure how many stops of light is between 1/0.30 and 1/48? Or am I wrong? And how would I go about doing that?
  7. Yes, he didn't state what shutter angle it was, but I assumed 180 degrees, yes.
  8. Actually the exposure time is 0.15fps, not 15fps.
  9. Well I would like some help really, the answer just seems like the easy way. I have calculated the exposure time using the simple formula 180/(360x0.15) which is 3,3333333. Am I on the right track? I would love some help on how to tackle this.
  10. Hey all, I was given this challenge by a 1.AC and I must admit I have absolutely no idea how to answer it, can anyone give me some hints. "If I have T-stop 5,6 as a base and wants to run at 0,15fps with the same aperture what will be my smallest exposuretime and how much ND will be needed on a 435 Extreme?" Anyone have some help?
  11. The work of Mr. Kovacs has inspired me ever since I saw Easy Rider for the first time. As a student, passionate for Cinematography, Kovacs has inspired me ever since I got into photography, and I can't explain how sad I am for not getting the opportunity to meet him in person. My thoughts go out to his wife and kids, family and friends, and may he rest in peace. 1933 - 2007
  12. Good, moody pictures, liked the style very much! Some shots (especially the first shot with the water) were a little muddy, but that might have been the Quicktime compression, I am not sure. I liked the close up shot of the guy, beautiful DOF, though the blue key light on him might be a tad too much. But it worked for me, and the rain playing off his face worked nicely. I didn't particularily find the change to slow motion relevant, and found it a little awkward being there. Could have worked without I think. Generally VERY nice images, good mood, great atmosphere. Acting could have been better as other repliers mentioned. The music was also a tad too loud, had trouble hearing some of the dialogue, kind of drowned in the music.. Good visual work overall, very solid!
  13. Okay film is up now, 22 minutes, 85mb, hope you will watch it and enjoy. Sorry for the multiple posts, I can't seem to figure out how to edit/delete posts on this forums. Admins can delete/edit the multiple posts if you wish. Have a nice day!
  14. Can't you edit your posts on this forum? it seems the sound it fu**ed up in this version, so I decided to take it down, it will be up in 15 minutes, sorry for the inconvienience. <_<
  15. Hey guys, I'm new here, and I though I'd share my latest work with you guys. It's my graduation film from the European Film College, which I just got out of on May 7th. The course is an 8 month foundation course. I specialized in cinematography. The film was directed and written by Julius Telmer, a fellow student. The film is a 15 minutes (heavily) tarantino-inspired crime film, about a young criminal, who unwillingly gets mixed up in unwanted crime business. Yeah - I know it sounds cliché, and it is, but please give it a chance, and please comment on the pictures primarily (of course comments and critique on story is great, but I can't defend that as well as I can defend my pictures). The film was shot on a Panasonic DVX100B, and the director wanted a part documentary and handheld, part stylistic steady look of the film, plus he wanted a very gritty dark look, which I think we succeded in doing quite well. The film was shot over roughly a week. If you have any questions, please ask! Here's a link to the film, it's 55.4mb and in quicktime format, hope everthing works: Circle Of Crime - h.264 400x300, ACC 192kbs (55.4mb) Kind Regards, Gustav Lassen
  16. Very well done! As someone mentioned there's probably a G35 adapter on that one, but what lens is it? Zeiss?
