  1. I'm a bit confused, so I'll ask you who follow Non-Confusius instead: 1. At which asa does the nizo professional read the vision 2 500t? Is it at 320? Some say 640, some say 320. 2. At which asa does the Nikon R10 read the vision 2 500t? Some say at 400, others at 640. I need to know so I can set my external meter correctly, as the internal meter isn't working. Again, thanks for all your help so far! Hope someone will bare with my basic questions for a little while longer :-) Regards, Bjarne Eldhuset, Oslo, Norway.

  3. I'll sure be following this thread from here in Norway. 1 roll of E64T costs about 34 USD without processing here in, so if Walmart still does this, I guess I have to find me a Billy over the ocean who will deliver the films to wall mart for me :-)
  4. 1. A megaphone. 2. A naked woman in a shower (just kidding) 2. A naked woman in a shower, unknowingly awaiting a brutal ending at the hand of a maniac psycho killer. 3. Embarassment 4. ... now you guys and girls and in-betweens continue the list!
  5. Anthony: I just have to say that looks amazing too! :-) But I'm curious, could you tell a little about how and where it was transfered? Regards, Bjarne Eldhuset, Oslo, Norway.
  6. Hi again, and thanks for all your good advice! I had to delay the test-shooting till this weekend, but now I'm looking very much forward to it! One, or two, questions though, as I have seen various opinions about how my two cameras read the vision 2 500t film. 1. At which asa does the nizo professional read the vision 2 500t? 7. Hi, thanks for the advice! The image was shot ditigal with a cannon powershot a5 camera, and I can't remember the settings. I guess it's smart to measure the lightest areas of the image, and let the darks go, eh, dark. The light in the tower seems pretty strong, but I suppose i should measure it in some way. I could zoom in with my nizo and take a reading, but the readings seem to differ a lot when at long focal range as opposed to short focal range, so I don't feel I can trust that reading too much. As for the film, I am actually going to use 500t, as i wrote in my first post :-) Anyone else have advice or experience using 500t at night or in low light? Regards, Bjarne Eldhuset, Oslo, Norway.
  8. Hi, I'm planning to shoot my two first rolls of Vision 2 500t negative film this evening. I will do some inside tests as well as outside. The problem is I don't know exactly how to expose this film. What do I do if there is so little light that the camera meter is off the scale? One of the places I want to shoot is in the Oslo harbour, where there is a clock tower in the front and an old fortress in the background that looks nice in the night time. Some time ago I shot a picture of the setting that I want to film, and I would very much appreciate your opinions on how to expose this image I have an external minolta auto meter IV F, but where do I measure the light? I can't climb the tower to take a reading there. At least i won't. My nizo pro has an internal meter that works. Should I just put in the film, trust the internal meter, and shoot away? On my Nikon R10, the meter is not working. Any suggestions? Hope to learn from you wise people! Regards, Bjarne Eldhuset, Oslo, Norway.
  9. In a momentary lapse of reason, i got this idea that I need your help with: Even though I wasn't born until twenty years later, I am very fond of the sixties. I love the way music sounded back then - not overproduced and flat-sounding like much of the music today, and I love to watch footage from this decade - the way people dressed, the cars, the furniture, everything. Nostalgia, maybe, but old love doesn't always fade away. At least, it doesn't have to. And that's where you people come in! I guess quite a few of you might be in possession of super 8/8mm footage from the sixties. What I would like to try organize is the following: 1. Have as many people as possible, from as many countries as possible, send me daily life footage from the sixties. 2. The footage would have to be sent to me in dv-format or via the internet. 3. The purpose will be to show daily life footage from the sixties from countries all over the world. 4. When I get the footage, i will edit a non-commercial film of it, available to members of this forum. 6. Those of you that sent me dv-tapes will on request receive the tape(s) back with a dv- or dvd-version of the film included. 7. If there should be a great interest for this project, we might split the footage into different categories, such as daily life, hobbies, cars, saturday night and so on. Now, wouldn't that be fun? I am posting this to see if there is a interest for the idea. If there is, please post your responses/suggestions on to how to make this project a reality. I'm also interested in knowing about possible problems that might occur regarding "law and order" when organising such a project, as I guess all participants would have to sign some sort of agreement. Any suggestions? Hopefull saturday evening regards, Bjarne Eldhuset, Oslo, Norway.
  10. Andrew: Thanks! Matthew: That was an interesting comparison that you linked to! My footage was telecined and transfered to dv by norwegian company Norsk Smalfilm. It's actually the company of the webmaster of www.filmshooting.com, also a great site. On the company's website, it says that the film is telecined with a "FDL-60 with Super8 gate". Anyone know what that is? I also have to add that I shot the film without a daylight filter, as I was not aware of the filter-notch-problem at the time. But i still like the colours, so I will probably do some more test shooting without filter in place. David: Ja, jeg snakker norsk. Norsk er mitt morsmål (Yes, I speak norwegian. Norwegian is my native tongue :-) How come you speak a little norwegian? Have you been to Norway? Here are some examples from a filmmaker in Finland of both Vision 2 200t and 500t: Al Dente - Spaghetti western (You gotta love that title :-) Regards, Bjarne, Oslo, Norway.
  11. Some clips from my first camera-test of Vision 2 200t negative film, shot with a nizo professional with the internal lightmeter in auto-mode. I'm pretty satisfied with the results, although I'm sure somebody else will show less grainy clipsthan me. Also, there is a black dot/area in the up-right corner in some of my clips that I don't know where came from... But for a first time, I'm happy :-) my clip Regards, Bjarne, Oslo, Norway.
  12. Hi, anyone know where one could find a depth of field-chart for the Nizo Professional? I can't find it in my copy of the manual, and found it a bit troublesome to find via the search engines. Regards, Bjarne, Oslo, Norway.
  13. Hi, thanks for your answer. I feel like asking "how much bluer do you think it will look", but I guess that is kind of hard to predict. Anyone have an idea? I feel kind of misled by the man in the store, however, here I thought he was the good Jedi, but now that I think about it, there was something strange about his whiskey voice. Eerie.
  14. Hi, I feel kind of stupid for asking this, but here it goes: Some days ago, I went to one of the most well respected fotography stores in Oslo. I spoke to a man in his fifties, who said he had shot lots of super 8 in his days. I specified I was going to shoot a negative tungsten film outside, and therefore needed a filter that would balance the light so that it would not turn out blue-blue. I had with me my nikon r10 and my nizo professional, and the elderly man behind the counter in my small town brought to me two Hoya 81A filters that he assured me would do the job. Well, I get home, and read some confusing things, to me at least, on/in the filter packages. On the back of the filter package, there is a scale, and the 81A filter is placed under "Cloudy, E.M. 1.4". This seemed ok to me, as it would suggest outdoorsy use. But in the inside manual, it says the following about the 81A filter: "Light balancing filter. Allows type B color films to be used with 3400 Kelvin photo lamps". Will these filters be sufficient for my use? They weren't too cheap, so I sure hope so. As I was planning to shoot some tests tomorrow, I'd be eternally gratefull! (hey, I'm a nice guy. I think. Most of the time. But take the Simpsons away from my telly, and I will haunt you...) Bjarne, Oslo, Norway.
  15. Hi, thanks for all your helpfull answers! I think I'll go for Giles suggestion, as this is lighter and more versatile to me than the dvd-player-options. I'll post some pictures of the results in a month or two. Best regards, Bjarne, Oslo, Norway.
  16. Hi, I`m looking for a cheap 5-10" lcd screen that: - runs on batteries - has video in - can show PAL - costs approx. 100 dollars or less All I seem to find is car-mountable dvd-player combos that don't run on battery, or portable dvd-players. I really don't need the dvd-player, but if someone knows about a deal that's cheap enough, I'll take it! Hope to hear from you wise men. Best regards, Bjarne, Oslo, norway.
  17. Hi, you might find some usefull information in this thread: Which European post houses offer PAL-format direct to hard drive super 8 transfers? Regards, Bjarne, Oslo, Norway.

  22. Hi! I've visited the portal, and have actually sent e-mail to many of these facilities, but I'd still be very happy to hear advice from people who have had a good telecine lately :-) Bjarne in Norway
  23. Hi! I'll soon have 20 rolls of Vision 2 200t negative super 8 film that needs to be telecined. I have a maximum of 600 EURO (about 770 USD) to spend on this. The conditions are as follows: - the rolls must be telecined to PAL-format - conversion from NTSC to PAL is NOT acceptable. - how good a telecine is it possible to get for not more than 600 euro? - anyone have a place to recommend? Best regards, Bjarne, Oslo, Norway
  24. I've now sendt e-mails to several companies around europe, and some more places, and will post the replies when i get the answers. First out are US company Colorlab Here is their answer:
  25. Hi, and thanks for your reply! Screenshot Berlin looks to be able to telecine 20 rolls of super-8 negative film with their best quality-option, "digital components YUV@ 270 mbit/s", for about 290 euros, film cleaning included. On top of this comes valued-added tax and shipping. To me, this seems pretty cheap? I contacted a norwegian firm that wanted about twice this price for the same job, although this maybe was for a better quality option. As, Bernhard says, does anyone noe how the flashscan compares to rank or similar? Would also be happy to see some more telecine places added here. If anyone has stills or transfer examples, that would be nice too! Greetings from Bjarne, Oslo, Norway.
