Anyone know if there are restrictions for air travel with Lead Acid, NiCD, or NiMH batteries? I'm flying with gear and I'm wondering if I need to pack my batteries with my carry-on or with check-in cases which go underneath in cargo storage? Alain

Will aaton 200ft film length fit acl 200ft mag
Alain LeTourneau replied to rob spence's topic in 16mm
I thought I'd jump in here on this one... Regarding pressure plate spec for ACL/NPR (which I believe is the same) it's 80 grams per sq centimeter. Now this is variable though, black and white film being thinner than color. (The pressure plate setting also affects camera noise and battery life, but I think this fact has already been mentioned within this thread.) The other variable is the film speed, the faster the camera speed (say 75 fps, like with the ACL motor) the more pressure is required. At least, this is what I heard from Bernie O'Doherty. The spring pressure is very easy to adjust on the ACL/NPR. It's amazing how simple it is. The tool to check the pressure (as far as I know) is very expense, unless someone knows of a cheap option I have not heard of...some tool for checking grams per sq centimeter? Alain LeTourneau -
Andrew, I couldn't agree more...the NPR is indeed a fine camera. I own two of them. IMO, the NPR is better than the ACL which I find a finicky and oddball'd machine. But that's a personal thing, I know many folks who own ACLs and think its a dream. I looked at Aaton's for awhile before realizing there was no reason to break the bank and kill myself paying the thing off. Sure it looks sexy, but with good glass (and your package definitely has good glass), the NPR will record an image that is equal to the SR and 54LTR/XTR cameras. I'm curious, what's the serial number of your camera body? Alain

Honestly, I'd ditch the CP and buy and Eclair NPR. It is better in every way, and the conversion to super 16 is in the ballpark of a Bolex conversion....very affordable. The CP is similar to the Arri BL, two cameras that have not made the leap to super 16 very well. I couldn't stand the thought of going back to a displacement mag, coaxial is just so nice. Alain

Please post you feedback to the forum after you get you EBM back from AZ. Very curious to hear about your experience and AZ's work. Alain

There's Clive Tobin... http://www.tobincinemasystems.com/page9.html Alain But of course, it's not exactly what AZ is selling for the EBM. Alain

I talked to Andrew at AZ the other day, as I'm sending one of my Alcan motors to him. Never used his services before but have heard good things. His motor conversions are twice as much as other folks but the conversions are also a little more than what other folks provide and in some case for models of cameras that nobody covers. His Bolex motor conversion look pretty nice. Alain

Thanks for the correction John, I had intended to write D96 but was going from faulty memory banks. Alain -
Does anyone have a contact phone number or email for the fellow who created the following site for the Eclair NPR? http://members.aol.com/npr16mm/ The email on the site is no good when I've tried it. -Alain

Sorry, I'm not looking to sell any of the motors I own. Good luck in your search. Alain

I have 3x Alcan motors. Two of which are 24/25 swtichable, and the other is variable speed 5-32fps. The motor lowers the height of the camera, and lessens the weight by 1-2 lbs. These are not easy to find...you might consider purchasing a camera package with the motor, then switch the motor and re-sell the package. Remember not all Alcan motors go up to 54fps. There were many different models made which will frustrate your search for an Alcan 54. I thought I spotted a Haflexx on eBay recently, no? Alain

ORWO UN 54 16 mm negative film stock
Alain LeTourneau replied to andres victorero's topic in Film Stocks & Processing
UN54 (ISO 100) is about $75 USD per 400' roll. N74 (ISO 400) is about $90 USD. Of course, the above price quotes depend on the exchange rate. Then on top of this you have to factor in shipping and handling. You might try contacting labs who use ORWO print stocks and see if they would order some camera stocks for you. ORWO stocks process in standard D94 chemistry. Alain -
Yes, I've had the 50D recommended to me by several folks. As for the 1030, I don't have $3360 to spend on the head alone. I hear what you're saying but I'm just not in the market for something at that price point. I'm in the sub-$1K market. Used, and old or the new low-end Cartoni systems are what I've been considering. Thanks for repsonding to my query. Alain

No it does not. It's the lens, focus gear, and front and rear caps. Alain
