  1. This may not be the thread but how about measuring for underwater filming? Thanks!
  2. Hello, I am trying to figure out which of these recorders to buy for a feature. The Zoom has an awkwark design (looks like a stunt gun!) but seems good and cheap. (Does anyone know what kind of XLRs it has??? They look weird on the manufacturer's pictures!) SDs are economic and it uses only 2 AA to power. The PMD-660 seems more "pro", the knobs seem to be more "organic" and the bunch of level buttons in the H4. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!
  3. What worries me is the sync. If the camera is only used with the spring-wound motor there will be trouble syncing, right? If shot with the Tobin motor (or other) it may keep in sync. How can this be solved since there are lots of old Bolexes and K-3 around. It would be great to invest in 16 mm on a budget. Thanks! By the way, vivo en México DF

    Ikonoskop

Hi, any thoughts or comments about the Ikonoskop Swedish Super 16 camera?
  5. Maybe it's a question of luck or fate... who knows? I flew through Atlanta right after 9/11 with a bunch of film and I didn't have any problem with the x-ray machines given the fact that airport security was tightened. Before that, in Montreal I had a huge argument with a security officer and he made me open all my 16 mm rolls and even show him the first foot or so, luckly they were 100 feet loads. I also forgot some rolls in my luggage when I shot a feature in El Salvador. They were 400 ISO and they came out great. I'm travelling to Vietnam and Cambodia this summer with a bunch of Super 8's. Any experience in those airports anyone?

    Kinoflex

I agree with Matthew, the Kinoflex package is excessively priced at Pro8mm. The Quarz can be traced on eBay.
  7. Don't feel bad! I had the same "trouble" when I got my Elmo! So it may be like the rookie Elmo user "baptism"!
  8. Big stuff: The Elmo 1012 Small or amatuerish: Canon 310 and the Kodak M-series, Russian cameras such as the Aurora's are nice too
  9. I couldn't see the link and I would really like to see it. Am I the only one who can't do that? Hope you can help!
  10. There are a couple of non-expensive recorders on the market nowadays. First, the Zoom H4 handy recorder that records on wav files on SD cards. A little bit more expensive is the Marantz PMD-660 and it records on CompactFlash cards. They both have phantom power and you eliminate de hassle of transferring by copying files directly on the computer. Hope it helps!
  11. I have an Ewa Marine underwater bag and a Canon 814 that goes into it. How do I mesure the light if I am in a shallow pool to make some takes? Thanks!
  12. Well, the Marantz is 579.95 bucks on B&H and the H4 is 299 (I guess) on amazon.com. That same friend who recommended the H4 told me Compact Flash cards are unreliable. I don't know if it's true but I wouldn't want to risk my sound and I think the H4 is a good deal. The Marantz looks amazing though.
  13. A friend recommended me to get a Zoom H-4 SD recorder and it's distributed in the States by Samson. I found it too good to be true. Check it on www.samsontech.com
