  1. thats what i wanted to say B) im going to stick to cheap shorts for now. Thanks Mr. Rhodes :)
  2. Well, you may get a distribution deal with some one. Self-funded films are usually not the best way to make the big bucks. If you think it is a great film, try and sell it to a studio before you finish the film. My view is that the self-funded films are the ones you use to get work. By self-funded I mean your own money or money from investors. It is always best to find out where the film is going before you start. Don?t worry about making a huge feature film that may not work. I say now and I have said this before. You can shoot quit a few short films that are very well done. Or you can shoot a barley get by feature. I strongly urge you to read Short films 101. It talks about all the stuff related to the business side of filmmaking.
  3. Can everyone please just SHUT UP :)
  4. http://www.pro8mm.com/ rents the a-cam for $325 per day or $250 per day with the purchase of a film/telecine discount package.
  5. i know you can pay over $600 for 1000' of 35mm film  and 400' of 16mm can cost almost $200
  6. http://www.cinematechnic.com/resources/arri_16bl.html this is a good site for info on the 16bl.
  7. But the a-cam is not a reflex camera. There is actually a review of this camera in the October issue of American Cinematographer. I love that magazine. :D
  8. HI, Does anyone know how I could flash 16mm film on a 100ft daylight spool? I am wanting to get a white burned out edge on one side of the film. Seeing as how it is a daylight spool I was wondering how this could be done. Or would I have to just buy a larger amount of film flash it and then spool down? Could this just be done in post? Thanks :) Zach

  11. "Maybe it's just me, but I don't see the point why 2 kids playing 'moviemaking' should plaster their posts all accross this forum. If the posts are of no benefict to other members (and these clearly are not) then they should just exchange emails and keep their conversations private." go tell Tim and we will stop. this forum is for the disunion film production in general and maybe this is of use to someone of less stature than your self
  12. here is the link Short films 101 :) http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/039...3031795-9115335
  13. ok, if the game does well than go for it. :) i am not going to change your mind. that is just my way of doing it. maybe you and me will work together some day.
  14. Ok, do the short unless you are planning to sell the screenplay to a studio and have them pay for it. But if you are thinking about financing it your self you are crazy. Or you can get investors
  15. I read this book about short films called short films 101 that said it is better to shoot great quality shorts than to shoot barely get by features. Everyone wants to shoot a feature but that?s a lot of money for something that may or may not work out. I say spend 30,000 on a short and make something that looks beautiful and very professional. If your film does not hit it big than no one BIG will see it Then it will just end up as a small peace of your reel anyway. That?s what I am going to do. Spend less money Get higher quality Always go for quality over quantity.
  16. Its about two 235 mags for the cost of one arricam 1000ft mag.

You would think they would have a 1000-footer. I don?t know what the db/A is like but you could probably throw a coat over it and call it good for some sync shots.
  18. Thanks Steve, I look forward to seeing the film you shoot with it on your site. Be sure to let us know how it turns out. Zach
  19. Hmm Two new guys one selling the product the other promoting it. Or maybe its just one guy. ;) o well Welcome to the forum anyway :)
  20. Is there any modifications needed to the mount to use the zeiss lenses? Or can I just use the standard mount? Do you have the bayonet mount or the screw mount? All I know about zeiss is that it is good in my Hasselblad and Arri uses it. i went onebay and saw that they have the m42 mount on the zeiss ddr.
  21. thanks Andrew B) I see they also sell the pentax screw mount lenses. does anyone know if i can get a pentax to nikon mount?
  22. I?m looking on eBay for a k3 but they are all from out of the US and thus have high shipping costs. <_< Where did you get yours?
  23. I just wanted to say that there are ten separate auctions on eBay right now for recanned Kodak 5284 500T 35mm film.
  24. I am a big eBay fan; you can sometimes find small amounts of 35mm film for testing there. B) Landon, I thought you were an ARRICAM fan like me. :D
  25. I think I remember hearing its about 20 seconds per wind. Then you have to wind it up again turning the crank counter clock wise. ;) But as long as you don?t have one shot over 20 seconds your ok.
