  5. Hi I recently shot a music video for a very talented director named Jeremy Lutter. The artist is Justin Hewitt. We shot the video with a canon DSLR the 1D mark 2 My background is mainly through Cinematography, I do take photographs for fun more of a hobby I guess? But I still approached this music video like I would with any film. I only had a couple hours to familiarize my self with the camera, what limited photography experience I have, has mainly been with a canon rebel 35mm film camera. But it didnt take me too long to figure out the menus ect. And I had a set of great canon lenses to choose from:) The video involves two models getting body paint drawn on them 1 frame at a time. it was very time consuming but a great experience:) I hope you guys check out this video, its on youtube,so it doesnt do the images justice. But Im really happy with this video, I hope you guys like it:)
  6. Im thinking the camera might be usless:( But the lens is still in great shape Im not familiar with the mount of the lens? Its an Angeniex zoom 10-150mm Im wondering if this lens is compatible with another camera, maybe an eclair npr but I dont know the type of mount the lens is?
  7. Im getting the tiolet also how would you go about changing the color temperture? is there an easy way to wrap gels around them?
  8. Hi Im thinking about purchasing a chimera pancake lantern just wondering whats your thoughts on this light? I want a soft light thats easy to rig over a group of people, lets say a dinner table scene just want to hear some feedback, is this light easy to use, portable, how does it handle as a soft key,or fill any feedback would be great
  9. Hi I work at a film co-op and we just got a CP 16mm camera given to us for free,by an old timer news camera man. Anyways it looks like the camera has oxidation all over it,basically it looks like a moldy powder all over the camera. I think the camera was in the guys basement for over 2 decades? Anyways,I'm just wondering whats the best way to clean off that stuff? And more importantly is it even worth the time and effort?? Im not sure if that stuff is also inside the camera motor,or moving parts so just wondering if the camera should go in the trash,or if its worth cleaning up? it came with a good lens, which seems to work great:)
  10. Thanks guys:) I'll check out bernie's website
  11. Hi Im looking to get an Eclair NPR camera converted to super16 I tried a place in vancouver, but the guy wanted $10500 which I think is way over priced! anyways Im hoping to find someone who can do it alot cheaper, and of course who can still do good job. so if you guys know someone who can do it,can you please send me a link or there contact info. that would be much appreciated thanks
  12. I felt there was lots of character development. and the 2 face ending was great, but thats my opinion And I could clearly see what was going on during the fight scenes? no offense, but maybe you guys need your eyes checked??
  13. I agree,at least from watching the Trailer. it doesnt look like there best work, Id prefer if Milk or Blindness was in its place...oh well
  14. The ASC awards for best feature cinematography where just announced looks Like Deakins has 2 nomination AGAIN this year, but he shares it with Chris menges Dark knight-Wally phister revolutionary road- roger deakins The Reader -Roger deakins/Chris menges Slum dog millionaire-Anthony dodd mantle Curious case of benjamin button- Claudio Miranda Im really looking forward to seeing revolutionary road, but my favorite so far this year is still Wally Phisters work in the dark knight
  15. Im so stoked they chose to shoot this in anamorphic. just doesnt seem common now a days for a horror film ,where 80% takes place at night to shoot on this format.
  16. looks great:) I really like the 3rd shot at the bottom, of the Man on stage with the christmas lights
  17. I dont care much for remakes either but when it comes to the horror film genre, theres really only so many original ideas? not to mention friday the 13th series was heading down hill after part 8 I mean the whole story line about friday the 13th is Jason seaking revenge over his mothers death,by killing anyone who enters camp crystal lake...... does it really matter if its a remake or a sequal?
  18. The cinematography in Blindness was amazing, but the movie was terrible:( so Im sure cesar charlone will be overlooked, but I hope he gets nominated? Also Batman begins was nominated for an oscar, and asc,so Im sure wally will get nomintaed again I thought the Dark Knight beats the cinematography in batman begins Im actually hoping Wally wins, not just because of the imax footage which is sooo sweet:) but mainly I think his lighting is just amazing.. As for benjammin button,I think that movie showed the best example how cinematography and production design really benefit each other.
  19. Hi not sure if this has been discussed yet? but award season is coming up, and just wondering whats your favorite cinematography of 08? heres my list so far Wally Pfister-dark knight Harris Savides-Milk Anthony dodd mantle- Slum dog millionaire Cesar charlone-Blindness Claudio miranda- curious case of benjamin button still alot of films I need to see,I really want to see deakins work in Revolutionary road and Doubt
  20. Hi I was wondering if Hoya makes a filter similar to tiffens promist filter? I went on Hoyas website and found a filter called "Softener" they have A and B grades anyways is this filter similar to a promist? also would the A filter be stronger than the B filter? the reason why Im thinking of a hoya is because they seem cheaper, and its not something I plan on using a lot.
  21. I have yet to see this movie But I read the ASC artical, and it seems like more than 60% of the movie was shot on the SI-2K even some canon mark 3 still camera was used in the artical it seemed like anthony dodd mantle mainly used the digital camera for the day scenes and 35mm pushed for the nighttime scenes so the pushed footage should explain the grain? it seems a little backwards to me,to use digital in daylight and film at night??? and according to the artical, they used the SI-2K because it was small and allowed them to shoot down the small crowded allways, and it had good latitude for digital. I really want to see this movie
  22. Hi Sean that cinetactics fold up mattebox, does it have the option too rotate a filter? like lets say I put in a 4x4 polorizor will I beable to rotate it. Im really thinking about getting one of these it seems like a great tool, and its cheap:)
  23. if I was in your shoes I would refuse to shoot that with out any additional lighting I would set up lights so that it adds to the cabaret performance and not distract from them light it like a stage.
  24. I agree with hunter I wouldnt push the film, the bar looks like it would be real easy to hide additional lights, and supplement the lighting already there.
  25. Hi I got a k-3 s16 camera, and I was wondering if the standard zoom lens will cover the s16mm gate? so how wide can I keep the lens,or do I even have to worry about that?
