  1. Hey all, so i decided to take a first crack at motion graphics in a little short rant video i did. I shot it comic book style, but not just black and white. I shot it solid black, and solid white. Anyways, I thought i'd throw it out there for some feedback. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABiyab7CWIk
  2. I haven't seen any recent movie in 3D, I think I saw a film 5 or 6 years back at a museum showcasing the effect and throwing it in your face. I just saw Pixar's UP in 3D skeptically, thinking it was going to be a gimmicky movie like what you might find at an amusement park. I was pleasantly surprised to find myself really enjoying the 3D and feeling it added to the films experience. By the end of the movie I had forgotten that I was wearing the glasses or distracted by the 3D effect. I'm enthusiastic to see more 3D movies in the future, and I believe the technical hiccups of production and projection can be ironed out and perfected. I recently read that Peter Jackson says every movie he shoots in the future will be in 3D and that James Cameron is working on a 3D film as well. Tron 2.0 is filming in Vancouver entirely in 3D also. Very exiting.
  3. Well i think a simple solution might be to rig one long four kino above and move a flag across it front to back repeatedly from the side. Either one guy from one side or a guy on each side alternating, depending on how wide your shot is and how close the lights are and the speed he's walking. It should simulate the effect without having to build a rig to move the lights.
  4. How about laying a load of ND gel on the window till it's dim enough, then just control what comes in and create shadows that are completely black for most of the frame.
  5. Hi, I've just gotten myself a small selection of gels, and smaller scraps etc.. and I want to pre-cut them however I'm at a loss as to what sizes i should be cutting them too. I'm looking at using them on a selection of lights, from peppers to Baby's Blonds and redheads, up to a 4K HMI as the biggest light, I don't have big enough pieces for 4x4 cuts so I'm looking for a small range of sizes i should be cutting for these lights in a way that i can be most efficient with my small selection until i can come across more Gel. Can anyone enlighten me? thanks -Brian
