  1. The only one I have seen so far was Memoirs of a Geisha, which i didn't warm too. The depth of field was too shallow in some shots, especially when you wanted to see the sumptous production design. I much prefered Munich, but hey that got snubbed.
  2. I think as a student a grip forum would be very helpful, we need all the advice and info we can find, why not make it a one stop info shop.
  3. If your not sure about subscribing to American Cinematographer yet then check out the archive section on the asc website to get an idea what the articles are like.
  4. Wolf Creek Once apon a time in Mexico The adventure of sharkboy and lava girl and I think Spy Kids 3D, can you see a pattern emerging, anything shot by Robert Rodriguez, were he could DP by moniter, or allow his gaffer to do most of the hard work. And i heard someone mention Eli Roth's Hostel, but could someone confirm or deny that please?
  5. its bizarre that they missed out the dvx101, why do product names never make any sense
  6. However, would it be even usable for english, or NTSC for that matter? Its produced for New zealand as well as several other countries so i assume it would be english based, and its a PAL based machine, which i know many low budget film makers prefer to NTSC I apologise for the tone of the last message, I don't belittle anyone as we all make mistakes. :) Simon Robinson Photographer
  7. Not according to a quick google search it isn't, Its the equivalent of our dvx100A or possible the B, its produced for the Asia and Oceanic regions. A quick check with somewhere like panasonic.co.nz should tell you if there are any differences As it has recently been noted on this site, it is important to check the facts before answering someone elses post. 8. Can anyone tell me whta filters were used in Sleepy Hollow to desaturate the image, I know that it was partially due to the smoke and print process, but in an interview they said that the colour filters turned all the red to black. So they had to use bright orange blood or replace the colour in post. Any advice anyone could give would be great, as I'm currently a still photographer doing similar work and wanting to recreate the look Thank you Simon Robinson (student, Falmouth college of Art, UK)
  9. Hi i'm trying to work out a budget for my first 16mm short and was wondering were i could get reliable film stock from in the UK. All the searches i've done have returned places in the US, please tell me that the only option isn't buying full price Kodak stock, even with a student discount this will put the project in jepordy as the budget is really tight thanks Simon
