  1. First of all, Bartech is not crap. It´s a very reliable remotefocus and for the price a very nice system and their support is top notch. But yes, being a one chanel system with no menus, it has its limits. I have a preston HU3 now and I am very pleased with it, great to have the lensmapping system and very easy to calibrate. The Bartech actually need you to think a little, maybe that´s the problem you had with it... just kidding. Anyway, C-motion got a good system as well and the Scorpio got that auto focus thing when you are on a dolly for packshots, good thing to have, something for Preston to look into.
  2. My first impression after reading your post: eh...what? I have not found RED fotage to have more noticable strobe than other 24p cameras. It´s all about the shutterangle/time. If you are at 180 degrees you have about the same strobe effect as shooting on film. On digital you can go 360 degrees for a smoother look, but you will also get a look more associated with video. If you shoot at 100 fps and then speed it up in post it will be about the same thing as shooting at 45 degrees (or a shutterspeed at about 1/200 sek) (hope I got the math right, I am a little tired today) To get a smoother look when shooting at 100fps you also need to playback at that speed.
  3. I´m prepping a short at the moment and I´m also looking into the option of shooting anamorphic with RED. Here you can find a commercial for Nescafe shot on this format.
  4. This is also interesting news from their homepage: Yes it is a Global Shutter CCD! We forgot to specify that in the specs, and we get a lot of questions on this. I think a lot of people understand how much better this is compared to a 'rolling' CMOS.
