  1. It looks like shower curtain, but it's supposed to be official professional stuff that costs in the $90 starting range. All I know is people have nicknamed it shower curtain and I can't find it on bh under that name. Anyone know of the official title? Thanks
  2. I have a 3 lbs, 3" chrome mirror ball that I'm trying to use for image-based lighting. Can someone tell me the best way to rig it? I'm trying to get the ball to exist off the ground, with whatever is supporting it to be as small as possible, but secure enough that the ball doesn't roll off and do damage.
  3. I'm using one of these cylinder 250w bulbs in a big china ball, http://www.filmtools.com/nehoba2532qu.html Never had much experience gelling those so I wondered what the best way is to do such a thing. I'm guessing the gel should at no point touch the light, don't want melted CTB smell.
  4. Those bright green poster boards you see in Target or art stores, has anybody used those for chroma keying and if so how clean a matte do you get?
  5. Dang I forgot if it's handheld or steadicam, I'll see if I can sift through all the footage again.
  6. I've been watching some behind the scenes stuff of some movies. And I see this alot, the grip will be just behind the operator, following him, with like a 4x4 solid or a double. Is this a courtesy flag for the operator, or negative frontal fill, something else? Thanks.
  7. I'm a youngster, didn't really take any business classes in college, need to be knowledgeable in the arena of business. Like how to carry myself, how to negotiate, how to deal with clients, common sense stuff that wise people know about business. Any business books come to mind?
  8. Hi, What percent on the IRE scale should caucasion people be? How about dark skinned? thanks.
  9. Hey slightly off topic, but for mainstream movies like this, does the studio send you the DVD of the film (special features and all, the kind a customer would buy) or have you ever had to buy it in stores yourself?
  10. Thinking of buying a 48" disc, I was wondering how soft it makes things, 216 soft? Soft enough to make a considerable difference in quality soft? Thanks in advance.
  11. I know you've talked before about Bill Wages and his clever bouncing techniques, did any tricks you learned from him come in handy on this shoot?
  12. Novice DP trying to do a scene at night with silhoutted car in background standing in as a cop car, just need to make the cop lights. I've got some worklights, lowel pro, omni lights, blue gels. Main problem is creating that strobe/flicker look. My guess would be to take a clipboard or something and just put it out and in front of the light really quickly. Any other suggestions for something really low budget? Thanks in advance!
  13. Hey thanks for all your responses I got a swatch book and grabbed my camera light. I saw a nice difference. Shooting tungsten through some 216, I looked pretty pale, but the soft amber warmed me up without looking orange, but more skin tone peachy, these might come in handy...

  17. I keep doing camera interview stuff, there's always a tension from the people. What techniques do you use to loosen things up?
  18. How does one do that? I'm trying to do interview lighting but getting the lightstand for the backlight seems hard to get rid of and still have the light be effective and well placed. I mean I could put more to the side but then one of the shoulders isn't hit very well, is this okay?
  19. Hi, I shot some stuff on 24p, converted to a cineform file, the other stuff that it's going with is in a 29.97 after effects project. How do I give it a correct pulldown?
  20. Slightly newb videographer, what would you charge? Atlanta- I'm an intermediate videographer, this lady wants me to do a promotional for a band, 3-5 min edited video, bascially of them performing at a concert, some basic graphic titles, a few soundbytes of them. I'd be using my HMC-150 camera, what would you charge?
