  1. I called Photoworks in Seattle and asked about ENC. The receptionist said that they did infact process it, but she seemed to be a little clueless on any details or even that she knew what it realy was, still insisting that they do. They sent me a free pre-paid mailer kit all of which is very "Wal-Martish" and still mentions nothing about ENC. I live near Seattle and i may try stopping by and getting more info, and will let you all know. Regaurdless i dont think it is going to be as good as RGB. I ama student and it was th greatest way to test film and learn without a painfull mistakes.
  2. I recently received a letter from RGB Color Labs in CA informing me that they were going out of buisness. Up untill now they have been the place to process Motion picture film loaded into still canisters that both Kodak and Fuji provide. In went the negative and back came slides. It was great. Does anyone know of another place that can do ENC-2 in sill canisters with any degree of quality? The letter mentioned Photoworks in Seattle. I called them and while they claimed to do it after reading over their material and looking at their website i was leary if they could do anyhting other than Walmart quality. This has been an inexpensive way to test film for me, and i have lots of it, so please let me know. I know im not the only one out there.
  3. Looking around ebay i see many Krasnogorsk 16mm Russian movie cameras. They seem to be simple and often come with a lot of accesories for a very low price. Has anyone worked with this camera? Is it any good? Pros/Cons. When there are a lot out ther for a low price i am skeptical, but it does look like a decent little camera to pick up. Is it worth it?
  4. The price difference will be big if you are shooting on K40 versus any 16, but remember that K40 is reversal intended for home movies. To be honest it is a great way to start because the film and the processing are so cheap. But if you are looking for soemthing that will come close to comparing to any 16, you are going to have to get pro stocks cut down to 8mm. Such as at pro8mm.com. I am in Seattle and some local places also have kodak vision and other stocks cut down to super8mm. They are more expensive, but will yeild much higer results after telecine. Pro8mm have a demo DVD available. But even after seeing it and looking at the not so great price difference between the highest end 8mm and 16, i have chosen to shoot my first film (next week) on 16mm. If you are a film student you get a 20% discount on all Kodak and Fuji motion picture films. If you are a student but not in a film program you cannot get kodaks discount but you can get Fuji's. Its working great for me.
