  1. I'll take it. PM and we'll sort out getting you the money. Rick
  2. That's too general of a statement for me to accept. Old-school film-chain set-ups need to ramp to 20fps to avoid flicker, but many of these set-ups are good. Our feature Sleep Always was transferred this way and while it is not the best transfer possible it is not anywhere near "poor quality". Rick
  3. Double-check with the transfer house because on some systems 18fps footage has to be ramped up to 20fps to avoid flicker. In the future you could also try this: do a head slate (clapper) AND a tail slate (at the end of the of each shot). Once on your computer it is easy to measure speed change from head to tail and then perform the precise speed correction on the footage. Rick
  4. Still chugging along, though sales have slowed. Some more screenings may be coming up, which I will post. I am glad to see that it is Mitch Perkins who is credited with that, as I did not have much to do with it. I like that Sleep Always is the first known work shot in widescreen super 8. I'll happily take credit for that since I have done all the PR. Rick
  5. Yes, lots, but as Nate pointed out the film you are selling is long discontinued and therefore very expensive to process. It's actually less expensive to buy and process some fresh current stock than to process the old stocks. IOW, you'll have trouble giving them away. Rick
  6. He might be mixed up about the 1.5X but regardless, for $80 I'd take it. An advantage of these is that even if the light meter is broken you can still adjust the aperture manually. Rick
  7. It is referring to filters with 52mm thread. It is possible there were telephoto attachments for this camera. That would be a bonus. I think these are excellent cameras and I would be willing to pay up to $150 if it was in good shape. Is that a 1.5X telephoto filter or attachment? Get the goods on that. If attachment, big bonus. What is he asking for it? Rick
  8. Single frame shutter-speed is usally the same as 18 fps so I would start with the fps setting there, take a light reading in auto and then make your decision and set it manually and then click away with your remote jack. If you were planning on using an external meter I'd guess the shutter angle is between 150- 170 degrees and set shooting speed to 18. Rick
  9. Yes, reversal. I say it depends on the quality you can expect and can afford. Buying something like a workprinter may be the way to go if you see yourself doing a lot of shooting. Rick
  10. Ahh, 250D. I missed that detail the first time around. You might be a half-stop over-exposed. Rick
  11. I too am curious about the precise model of 814 you have. The 814 Auto Zoom (mostly silver) will read 250 properly, as will the 814 Auto Zoom Electronic. Do you have an 814 XLS? That one I don't know about. The question for Pro8 is whether their 250 is properly notched. Rick
  12. I would definitely push at least one stop to ensure getting something. Maybe push two stops. If highlights blow out a little it should still be usable. You could also consider pushing one roll and check the results before processing the others. You could also simulate a similar situation and take a light reading and make an educated guess based on that. Rick
  13. Dropped the film at the lab today. Will try to pick up Monday. Are we first one in? Rick
  14. Finally got around to finishing off my cart (started by James E, Chas and Pelle): decided to just mess around with shutterless shots of candles and lights since it's hard to get the right idea for a mere 10 feet. And I only had 7 feet!!! So much for people shooting 10 feet to leave a buffer at the end!!! I am really glad I didn't try to execute anything complicated (as originally planned) as I would have been really let down. Anyway, I will get this processed here and get it off to Last Coyote. Rick
  15. Thanks for all the advice. I am going to send one of my free carts through single8.com and get one cross-processed ECN2 here out of curiousity as to the outcome of that one. Then I have a dilemma others here have surely faced. This camera also came with an exposed roll inside. I would love to see what is on it but not sure if it's worth the price. Back in the Kodachrome day it was great to get an exposed toll of pre-paid K with the ebay-cam. I could ship it off and see what someone else was shooting without paying for the privilege. Rick
  16. Thanks for the heads up on the film. Do you have the address in Japan to send directly? Rick
  17. Picked up a Z1 single 8 for $25. Seems to be in good working order and there are a few rolls of film in the bag. Question: Has anyone here worked with Single8Film.com? How are they? Has anyone cross-processed Fujichrome R25 ECN2? I ask this because one of my local labs can do it and I am curious what to expect. The cost is the same as sending it to Single8Film but the turn around here would be about 4 weeks better. Rick
  18. Last Coyote, I haven't shot yet but will process here in Toronto when I do. Do I send it to you when I am done? If you PM me your address I will send it. Rick
  19. Good to know that instead of being alone in the dark there are others with me here in the dark and that PTC is perhaps, maybe, not entirely cursed. Plan to shoot my 12.5 feet this weekend but not sure what that means yet. Rick
  20. CHAS Good to know someone is here (worried we'd be incommunicato) and yes, please direct Lost Coyote here. I have the cart from Pelle, which I am going to finish and process locally and I will need to get that to someone when I am done. Rick
  21. For more details visit the venue website. http://www.starandshadow.org.uk/ Rick
  22. I have never had any problems. I think they were being overly cautious in their design. Some cameras don't have rubber around the edges. Have fun. Canon 1014 XLS is a great camera (I have the 814). Rick
