  1. Here is some additional information that I think you may find of interest. a few weeks ago, John Galt and Larry Thorpe gave a presentation called Demystifying Digital Camera Specifications to a group at Panavision. It addresses issues raised in this thread and a number of others as well. Panavision has just posted the entire presentation on our website and we will announce it next week. But since this thread is directly concerned with the heart of the presentation I thought I would let you have a sneak peek. The presentation can be found at http://media.panavision.com/ScreeningRoom/...Box_Office.html I'll be curious to hear what everyone thinks. Regards, Andy Andy Romanoff Panavision Woodland Hills
  2. Hi David, Actually the movements were built in 1984 and sat in Jurgen Sporns drawer until Henner asked for them - talk about being ahead of your time. We installed them in the cameras and went right to work. The reason Bob Beitcher talked about 2-perf yesterday was because we are building new 2-perf movements to service demand. BTW, (totally commercial message begins here) if anyone wants to see a 2-perf camera, or our new anamorphic lenses or the new solid state recorder for Genesis and F23 come to Panavision tomorrow Saturday 13th, from noon to seven to see all that and more. The RSVP link is https://123signup.com/register?id=xdvnd If you cant make it check out the webcast of yesterdays press launch at http://www.eventbywire.com/ViewBroadcast/?EventID=821 Regards, Andy Andy Romanoff Panavision Woodland Hills
  3. Hi Evan, One major reason is that people really like the optical effect - the look of anamorphic. (now a commercial) If you have time tomorrow come to Panavision Woodland Hills for Panafest, Panavisions new product roll out. Among the products we are showing is a new set of anamorphics as well as a new spherical zoom and our new solid state uncompressed recorder for Genesis and F23 the SSR. Noon to seven, lots of technical people to talk to, food and friends - oh by the way, anybody else reading this you're welcome too. See you tomorrow, Andy Andy Romanoff Panavision Woodland Hills
  4. Hi Brad, Sorry to be so slow to reply, I've been away for a few days :D Although we haven't had the cameras in the test chamber yet I can tell you they are very quiet. When we get them back I will set up a test and let you know. Regards, Andy
  5. Hi Mitch, Sorry to be so long getting back. The 2 perf cameras run at the same frame rates as the 4 perf. Andy
  6. Hi Brad, Currently we have movements for the G2, Platinum and lightweight bodies. I think we may also have some Arri MOS bodies around. BTW, we also have some fabulous looking test film shot by Henner Hoffman ASC before he started a picture with these cameras. If you (or anybody thinking about shooting 2-perf) wants to see how good the format can look shooting with Primo glass please contact me to set up a screening. Regards, Andy
  7. Hi Chris, We have two 2 perf Panaflexes available out of the Woodland Hills office but they are currently in use on a feature. Depending on schedule you could be next... Give me a call at 818 316 2280 and let's see if we can make it happen.
