  1. Which means they have the best prices anywhere. However if Walmart will develop all super 8 movie film at least the films that require E-6 processing, then the cheapest route is purchasing direct from Kodak and then dropping it off at Walmart for processing. Case in point 64T, $14.00 a roll. Developing at Walmart $5-6. Total is $20. Now the question is what films have E-6 processing? Does the 100D? And since Walmart probably uses Dwaynes to do its processing, Walmart may do processing other than E-6?? Let's find out.
  2. On film that is. Check it out: pro8mm film price list
  3. Those who have had experience please share with us which is the champ in grain, color saturation, sharpness and why? Any examples of the two? Looks like these two are real winners.
  4. This film is getting great reviews. Give us the short list of who sells this film in the US and the price...please.
  5. I get what you all are saying but I find it a bit disconcerting that that mediocre looking film, because it's super-8, is where the bar has to lay. If you could get 16mm to look better, would you? If 35mm could look like 65mm I would shoot it with what ever set of tools and protocol necessary. However if I wanted 35mm to look like 35mm then I'd follow that path when desired. The fact we can make super-8 look better than ever before, why so much resistence? We should instead rejoice!! No?
  6. In some ways I like the look. Colors were pronounced and you could see everything.
  7. Just take a look at these still shots and tell me this is not the future of super-8. Do we have to settle for that "super-8 look"? Let's have both and more. Let's stop cutting our selves off of the technology that can bring super-8 to the next level of professional motion picture quality. Santo was right, it can be done. But with great lenses, a stable camera and wonderful Kodak film. I'd like to see some clips of these stills, how about it? http://www.filmshooting.com/scripts/gallery/album08
  8. Here's how I'm going to do it as I have in the past. First talk to one of the employees perferably the assistant manager or manager letting them understand what you are doing. After you fill out the Walmart photo drop box envelope write out at the bottom of it what is inside, "Super-8 movie film e-6 processing" Give it to the girl or place in drop box and pray.
  9. A gal who I have taken my Super-8 to in the past at Walmart did some checking on the possibility of processing the T64 movie film. She asked the corporate if Walmart would process E-6 super-8 film. They said ,"Yes"! That's all I have for now. Next step is to shoot some and see if it really works and they charge me $4.88 plus tax.
  10. Anthony could you post a clip of this please?
  11. Who services super-8 projectors. I'm thinking Elmo, Bauer and especially the Beaulieu 708. Thanks.
  12. Please post yours or someone elses link of film shot on V2 500T super-8 stock.
  13. #4 In camera auto exposure. For the run and gun and the inexperienced, convenient.
  14. Friends what I would like to see is every link and example published or unpublished of Kodak's super8 vision2 200asa film that you have shot or seen. Give us stills or better yet how about a clip.
  15. Last I checked Kodak sells 100 ft. of Vision 16mm for $36 But my comment is not meant to get us off track here. Another reason (#3) I like super8 over 16mm is the quickness in setting up a shot. Run and gun seems easier.
  16. Then does anyone know when the last batch of super 8 cameras were made in the 80's? You know when all the camera manufactures were making them, which was the last ones and what dates.
  17. Here are two topics I'd like to see added on this forum: 1.) 65mm 2.) Editing
  18. #2 The cartridge acts as a film magazine. You can in midstream change from one emulsion to another in seconds. Reloading takes about the same, seconds. No worry of light leakage. No hassle of reloading your film in a light tight bag. Less chance of a light leak.
  19. I'll start: #1 Light portable cameras which can be nice if shooting travelogues.
  20. Coming back off the weekend I see some very interesting discussion but many are missing the point I had originally ask for. We know that DV and HD have some great advantages over film from the camera itself to the shoot to the workflow to follow. My intent was to encourage us and others to shoot film by pointing out the strengths of shooting film from beginning to end. Let's pretend we are talking to our college student son who has shot loads of Dv and you sit him down and without dissing DV you unfold super 8 to him for the first time. What would you say? Point#3 of why I like to shoot film. When you have the developed reel of magic and even projecting a silent 3 min. family film on the "big" screen in a living room the presentation takes on a whole different dynamic. They usually want more. People seem to love this experience whether in the theatre or at home. Some how video looses that mystic on a TV.
  21. Second reason I like film. The idea of a film camera not becoming obsolete every 1-3 years. That with each imporvement in film technology your camera becomes upgraded automatically. I love that feature. PS This is not your typical digital vs. Film arguement but more of a let's embrace super8 film and tell why we choose it over mini dv.
  22. Shooting super-8 has its benefits over video. of course video has its benefits over film too. Let's all chip in and state our reasons to shoot film. I'll start. The benefit of film over video is the archival ability of film to store even in less than ideal conditions ie. basement and still have excellent color and detail for many years. I recently saw my Mom's 1949 graduation prom in 8mm kodachrome. The quality of the film looked like it was shot last week.
  23. Yes thank you I believe I'm getting it. As to learning all the rest you mentioned I'm reading a book on it for the 3rd time as we speak. I'm 45 and have been a super 8 nut for years and the learning curve is good sized in the digital arena for me.
  24. For some reason I'm having a time wrapping my mind around this definition. Help me out please.
  25. Did Beaulieu ever have a anamorphic lens for their super 8 cams or was that just a super wide angle I see now and again on e-bay.
