  1. Hello everyone, I'm completely new to film and I just bought my first super8 camera: a Bauer C109 XL. I also bought film stock: Kodak Ektachrome 64T. First I did some research on the camera and found this page: Super8 Wiki: Bauer C 109 XL Well, it seems that my camera doesn't work quite well with this film stock. It cannot run it automaticaly. How do I solve this problem? Turn off the automatic iris? Rens (Netherlands)
  2. Justin, I'm so surpised by this whole thing. On marktplaats.nl (Dutch Ebay) he was selling a bolex H16 electric as 'Piet Dolf'. The name was suspicious to me, Piet is a very 'standard' name, if you're not a Dutchman and you don't know Dutch names, you choose 'Piet' or 'Jan' or something. And 'Dolf' is a bad guy in a Dutch cartoon show... On his website, he uses very 'not quite right' Dutch, and his website looked not very professional for a filmcompany. I wanted to have that bolex h16, but at that time, I had not enough money to buy it, so I asked him (in an email) if he could reserve the camera for me, until I had enough money to buy it. He called me back and said: "That's okey, if you pay me now (doesn't matter how much) the camera is yours and you can come to my company in Rotterdam. You can try the camera as much as you want. I have raw stock here so..." His accent was very 'Indian', very strange: his name was Piet, a very typical Dutch name. I'm glad I didn't pay at that time, my parents advised me not to do that. Justin, I feel sorry for you. This man need to be in prison!
  3. Hmm film is money, I knew that, but I still can't wait to shoot my first film! Thank you for the very helpful information! I think I'm going to buy several stocks to shoot with. You're absolutely right about that 'Making of video' thing. The fact that they're shooting on video annoys me quite a bit. Why they are not shooting the making of on film too? It would be to expensive...
  4. Hello, I've just bought a Bauer C 109 XL for (just) ? 25. ($ 34) It is my first super-8 camera. I'm totally new to the filmworld (I've always shot on video) so I have a few questions: - To which points do I have to pay attention to? What are the advantages and disadvantages of a Bauer C 109 XL? - What is the main difference between film and video? Where I need to focus on as I'm a 'switcher'? - Is exposing film different from exposing video? Other tips are welcome! Rens (The Netherlands)
