  2. Aloha Everyone, Thanks to those who have joined in the topic. So here's a couple photos of the Mekel Super 8 Cameras I have. I have a few of these & could possibly be willing to trade one of these non reflexed ones for a reflexed model. Again if anyone knows anyone who has one of these Mekel Super 8 with the Reflex viewfinder please let me know!!
  3. Aloha Glenn, I Just followed the link & it shows the mekel vic sp-1 Camera that Clearly shows the viewfinder, & if you read the 6th line down it says ' viewfinder: single-lens reflex with adjustable eyepiece". I know they made 2 versions of this camera, one with a viewfinder & one without. I have a few of the non viewfinder ones & am looking for one that has the viewfinder. If anyone knows of one please let me know. I will get in touch with VI, & see if they have any leads.. Glen can you post a picture of your camera? mahalo, Erik

    My new Milliken

Aloha All, I am verry familiar with these cameras. I have about 15 or so. DBM3's 4's & 5's They all are great cameras. I can help you answer most questions about these cameras & or direct you to the most knowledgeable camera repair person in the world specificaly for these cameras. A few things to note about these cameras. Do you Have an AC or DC Motor. It will say on the motor inside the camera cavity where the film goes. If it is DC than it takes a 28V DC Nicad Battery (any Batterys Plus can make you one) Most of these cameras are set for military film perf or Positive film. You can rewire the camera so that you do not need the conector. Yes you need to run the camera with film on daylight spools. If any one has any specific questions about these cameras they can contact me at ajaxphoto@hotmail.com mahalo, ajaxphoto

  9. Aloha All, I Have recently Had my Arri SR2 HS converted to Super 16 by Axel Broda. I Have a T-Bar & an Old Black widow Video Camera sitiing in the Closet. I am looking into getting a good Color Video Tap camera System for this camera. I have been looking at all the Options out there & am wondering what is the best & Affordable option. I am looking at Lee Uterbach's J-bar deal but am concerned by there coment that " only Specially Modified CEI Video cameras will cover the Super 16mm format". From what I understand these cameras are super expensive. I am also looking at the Visual Products T-bar Video Tap Conversion. This set up converts the t-bar to accept a Sony XC999 Camera. My Question about this set up is does the XC999 cover the whole Super 16mm frame? or is there an issue like the Lee Uterbach's J-bar deal?? Cant a diopter be used to make the camera see the whole image??? I Know the xc999 is used on 35mm cameras, so if it can see the whole 35mm frame why wouldnt it be able to see the whole Super 16mm frame?? how flicker free are the XC999 Cameras???? Any help with this would be great. Mahalo Ajax
  10. Aloha All, I Have recently had my C-mount Camera Converted to Super 16. I shoot action sports & mostly with very wide lenses. I use the angenieux 5.9 & Century 3.5. I know the Angenieux 5.9 does not cover the Super 16mm frame. I have purchased the Kinoptik 5.7 & it does cover the Super 16mm frame but it is huge & Heavy. My Question is does any one know of any other wide angle lenses or combinations of lenses that will cover the super 16mm frame. I am wondering if any one knows if the newer Switar 10mm with the 5.5 Aspheron adaptor covers the Super 16mm frame. I also noticed a Shnieder 10mm with a Nizo adaptor on e-bay that supposedly covers the Super 16mm frame. Does any one know which Nizo adaptor this is???? there are three types, & I am not sure which this was. or if it needs a stepdown ring. I have also Spoke with Photosonics in LA & They Claim the newer Century 3.5 Covers the Super 16mm Frame, But When I spoke with Century Optics in LA they Said it did not. Does anyone have any expeirience shooting with this setup??? Does it vignette? Because if you have to crop in to the film image you are not getting as wide an image as the lens supposedly is, & the Image Quality suffers. Any help with these topics would be great. Mahalo, ajax
