Hi Jon,
no worries with your Bolex S-16.
In my experience all Switar RX c-mount pre set lenses will cover S-16.
The only exception may be the older non pre set 1,6/10mm.
Believe me, I have the 1,6/10mm, 1,1/26mm and 1,4/50mm pre set lenses on the turret of my RX4.
The Switar 10mm can also be used with the "ASPHERON" super wide attachment, which makes it an incredible 5,5mm combi.
The Vario Switar 1,9/16-100mm will cover S-16 through the entire zoom range from inf. to around 1,6m.
The Schneider Cinegon 1,8/10mm is also fine.
If you look at the full size film image (12,35x7,5mm), there may be a sign of shadowing in the very very corners.
The projected area is 11,75x7,05mm, the scanned area for HDTV is 11,75x6,35mm and there is no vignetting at all.
For private use I'm shooting reversal, lucky to have a S-16 projector, which makes a wonderful home theater
and there are absolutely no issues with all these lenses.
Have fun with your RX5

Hi Constantin.
As for your original problem, I'm with Heikki. Using a release handle helps a lot.
Yes, tightening the motor demands a skilled hand, not easy to describe.
Too loose means also stress for the mini connector!
Imho replacing the motor with the small one does not make sense, it's 3oo gr. difference, but the balance is the same.
Your motor is the last version, the knob for manually moving the mirror is less protruding than with the former samples.
The motor will automatically stop in viewing position, which is indicated by this knob, the little dot in clock 9 position.
Good luck,
Volker

Hi again,
for the Distagon super speed 1,2/9,5mm there is an Aspheron pre lens which makes it a super wide 5,6mm.
I have that one and it's sharp and free of distortion, but tricky with reflections.
I can also use it with the Vario-Sonnar 2/11-110mm, makes it a fix 6mm, no zooming.
Volker.

Hi Carl,
the Switars are nice lenses, no doubt. I've got the 10/26and 50mm on the turret of my BOLEX and love them.
But for your ACL you should also consider ZEISS super speeds in ARRI bayonet mount, ready to use.
With a little bit of luck you might even get two of them, 1,2/9,5 plus 1,2/12 or 16 or 25mm at the price of one modified Switar.
Good luck,
Volker
