  1. Cool nice to see a fellow Californian on here! I liked it. The concept was entertaining and funny. Good job
  2. This is my first horror and I would love some honest feedback as to what you think. It was shot on a Canon 7D and I did everything else and directed it.
  3. Hey all, I directed this ad for a doritos competition (obviously I didnt win) but I would like to know what you think of the quality of the shots and camera, style, etc. And any other advice I could improve on. Thanks
  4. I hear RED is better in some ways. But still out of the RED, Alexa, and Canon 7D...you guys think Alexa is better? They use that camera in a lot of tv shows. I assume its extremely expensive.
  5. Hey all, I would love to hear any feedback on my style, cinematography, camera movement, or what I need to improve on. This was shot on a Canon 60D and directed and concepted by me. Thanks!
  6. Sorry for my bad english. I want to know what camera I should get as an investment. Currently I own an OLD canon zr65 that shoots on mini dv tape. I've found a liking towards DSLR's now because of the convience of quickly uploading files on my laptop. I am creative so any camera that can do it all would be great. Any ideas or recommendations? Thanks!
  7. Hi all, I am looking to buy a camera and I want to know what camera I should take a look at. I've heard a lot about the Canon 7D, RED, etc. But I want to be sure. I am looking for a camera that doesnt require much color correcting, used in music videos and feature films, stop motion, good battery life, etc. Any ideas ore recommendations? As far as equiptment, what would you say a filmmaker should always own? Lighting, etc Thanks!
  8. Call me small minded. But Ive noticed that Sundance Film Festival seems to have turned into a celebrity studded event. How can an independent film maker compete when name brand actors are starring in these films? It seems a little unfair. I would assume that the average filmmaker doesnt have the money to pay a famous actor to star in their film. Is there a secret to this that Im missing out on? What do you think?

  10. Does anyone know of any free locations (besides the beach) to shoot at in Los Angeles? Like a house, room, etc.
  11. HI, I have a Canon zr 65 mc and I wanted to find an attachable lens to give my short film a "cinema" look. I believe its called a depth lens, Im not sure. Does anyone know if this is possible being that this is an old camera?
  12. Im in the process of writing my short film. I put out a casting call and have recieved actors who are aware that they are working free. My plan is to have my cast meet and distribute the script for a read though. After they take home the script, I give them shoot dates and we begin filming. 1. Should I make them sign a release form? (if so what kind) 2. Any advice on the business process of a short film production
  13. I am making my first film (with non experienced actors)and any advice would be greatly appreciated. Im concerned with making them sign a release form. Where do I find these? And typically when do I distribute them? I also would like the the first process I need to do if the actors are cast online. What is the professional guideline to ensure a proper experience. Also I would like to know if I should sit them down first with the script and give them (a certain amount of time) to get their lines down. What time frame do I give and how can I keep free actors coming back? -Sorry for the amount of questions Thank You
  14. So as a film maker. According to one day shoot. How much are you supposed to pay actors SAG or NON Union. And the crew members like AD, best boy, cameras, extras, etc. How much on an average? Also as a director should I own more than one camera. How does the process happen that a director gets hired by a big production company?Or is it the same as any other job process?
