  1. Thank you Nick and Andy, I am absorbing as much as I can from your posts...I have bought that cinematography book by malkiewicz (sp?) although somehow i find the layout a bit confusing, I bought a great photography book the other day that had a very visual layout to problems and I think I understand things better in that way rather than lots of words, maybe I will try out David Mullens book... and the thought of doing maths I find abit scary after all these years! :)
  2. Hi just took a reading in the shade - 5.6 and then notched it up to 1.0 and it showed a reading of f 8.0 So I guess that 0.3 is the correct compensation. This is going to sound woefully stupid but what is the compensation measured in? (0.1,0.2 etc) Is there any books you know of that deals/explains/teaches with these kinds of issues? And why does the bolex manual state its 25 % loss when it's 17 %? Thanks for your insight!
  3. Thanks, I will play around with the exposure compensation with my sekonic. by setting it to 0.3 that should take care of it..? BTW I havent seen Mr.Bumpy is it?> in a long long time..
  4. Now I am still a little confused here, so if you could please bear with me.. The lost from the an EBM viewfinder as it states in the manual is 25% so it gives a chart of "exposure times" and corrected "photometric exposure times" something like this - 10 fps 1/21 - 1/30 18 fps 1/33 - 1/50 24 fps 1/50 - 1/67 I have just bought my new sekonic 508 cine light meter. How do I set these "photometric" values into my meter? I have set the angle at 170 degrees and 24 fps. How do I compensate for these exposure times, please help!
  5. For what its worth, what do you think of something like this (again equally as dodgy) It seems with ebay i cant help but suspend all my rationale..! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A:IT&ih=006
  6. Yeah thought something was up - especially when the seller has sold a couple of lots apparently the exactly the same as this one. Heres the link if its of any point :) - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A:IT&ih=008 Just the sight of all that potential film got me excited..
  7. On ebay, 50 100ft rolls for approx £150 UK (vision 500T) Too good to be true?
  8. Is the light lost through the beam splitter a unchanging amount, ie in the nizo's manual does it state how much you have to compensate for, when taking an external meter reading?
  9. Hi thanks, Nice clear response, you would write a good manual/help book!! Excuse my ignorance but why don't you need the 85b filter if it is still sunlight? Would it come out underexposed if you filmed with it anyway? Do you use the 6080 as well? Thanks for your time,
  10. Hi, I have just received my 6 rolls of plus x from the states and I am ready to shoot with my new Nizo 6080. Now I have been reading around and seen that this particular stock is hard to expose correctly. Should I use my external light meter or the auto light meter readings? Also should I use set the filter position to the "bulb" setting (without the 85 filter) If anybody has any tips or advice shooting with this stock it would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
  11. I am going to be using an ebm with a Kern vario 16-100mm poe. I dont suppose you know whether there was any setup made for particular lens? I have seen a setup for macro photography that looks interesting but I think it might be rare, thanks
  12. Hi, I am intending to make a film in polaroid images, photographs and motion, a la Chris Marker. Now I was wondering what is the best way to do this do you think? I dont have access to a rostrum so what is the second best alternative- investing in a animation stand maybe? Is there any consideration to take into account with light metering when shooting still imagery? Thanks!!
  13. I have bought them off of a chap on Ebay, he seems to be genuine but I am testing him out...
  14. Hi, I could think of lots of instances where exposure to heat could happen - sitting in a car/van would surely be a warm/hot environment.
  15. Thanks for putting my mind at ease, oh yes and by postage I do mean mailing, you know in 400 years if the human race is still here I think American will be its own distinct language!
  16. Sorry I can't help but it sure is interesting looking under the hood, can you take some more pics?
  17. Hi, I am in the Uk and have ordered some super 8 plus x from the US. Now its best to keep it cool/cold and it probably will be exposed to heat during postage. Now, how long does it take for film to be exposed to heat before it starts to deteriorate? Thanks!
  18. excellent, i had a feeling it would be ok, but when i was out shooting i had a small doubt somewhere in the back of my mind, thanks
  19. I took out a super 8 cartridge mid film because the camera was playing up and put it into another, will that effect the portion exposed to light only, or the film as a whole?
  20. "Half past dead," with Steven Seagal. How do they convince people to fund them with this stuff, its incredible.
  21. Thanks for the info guys!
  22. Is posting super 8 to andec in german, from uk, ok? I have heard different opinions concerning this..

    Nizo 6080

Hi, I am shooting a film with my new nizo next weekend, i have a few questions if anyone can help? If I put a ND filter on the camera, will the auto exposure compensate automaticvally? What is the shutter speed of this camera? (I have a bought a sekonic cine so i will measure the light externally as well) Thanks - (my internet is down so its hard to respond)
