  4. Looking for a 1.9mm c-mount. Century fisheye extreme... Brent brent@brentfinley.com
  5. "Pretty much the same" Well the difference between 135 and 165 is not that much... depending what you're looking at ... it might look pretty much the same. The 165mm zoom will be a bit tighter.... but unless you quantify it... you might not really notice... using this equation.. FOV (rectilinear) = 2 * arctan (frame size/(focal length * 2)) a 135mm lens gives you a horizontal FOV of 5.25 degrees across a 12.35mm super 16 neg a 165mm lens gives you a horizontal FOV of 4.3 degrees So the 135mm lens give you 5.25/4.3 (1.22) or 22% more image horizontally That's not "pretty much the same"... but if you're filming a person down the street who fills 15% of the image height... it might LOOK pretty much the same... The zoom lens might really NOT be zooming through the entire range... but when it says 135... they should match.
  6. Thanks for the compliment. Here's the scoop on the 1VN - I cut one pulldown - Shorten one reg pin til it doesn't touch film (the pins are all needed to keep the reg pins running in the bushings... you can't really "remove" one) - lathe off the uneeded teeth. - Add extra guide pins in the film path to avoid film "yaw" and rattle and to assiste in locating the perf exactly where the reg pin comes in (or else it can get damaged and break film). Some of the stock guides in 1VN mags are not close enough tolerance for single perf induced sideways motion and they break film - Remachine an entirely new replacement front from 7075 aircraft aluminum with the lens moved over 1 mm. - EDM the gate width to match the super 16mm frame. - Fill in the reg pin gap in the gate to avoid double exposure then scratch test, clean, lube... I have many surf customers... and the Burton Snowboard shooter ... and matchstick productions (skimovie.com) used it on their Seven Sunny Days dvd just premiering. They used it in the Wingsuit base jump footage. it's cool!
  7. Hi there, I have developed a super 16mm Fisheye (approx 5.3mm) I originally did it for my Super 16 conversion of the Photo-Sonics 1VN, but it fits the A-cam (stock camera, not the reflex conversion by Duall) If you want a SUPER 16mm lens (truly covers super 16mm) that is nice and sharp, and C-mount... see this snowboard footage by one of my customers: www.brentfinley.com/images/cine/s16fish/ for pics and sample footage. The first CLIP is NOT the s16 fish... it's a century shot on double perf and cropped in. The 2nd and 3rd clip are with the s16 fish which is approximately 5.3mm fisheye. This c-mount lens will not fit on many cameras because it has a protruding rear element. So you can use it on: S16 Photo-sonics 1VN S16 Ikonoskop A-Cam S16 Milliken (with minor custom shutter machining to prevent crashing) Email me with any questions. Brent Finley brent@brentfinley.com
  8. Here's the scoop on the Century 5.7 you see there. That particular model was made by Century (yes, with a Schneider 10mm base) so they could use autoexposure "APEX" units on the lens. The Scheider 10mm has a nice linear fstop with no clicks. This was NOT their stock 5.7mm lens. The Century 3.5mm lens is NOT really a 3.5mm lens. It is a 5.0 ish mm fisheye. The original denomination was estimated from a rectilinear table and does not follow fisheye focal length versus FOV equations. If you want a SUPER 16mm lens (truly covers super 16mm) that is nice and sharp, and C-mount... see this: www.brentfinley.com/images/cine/s16fish/ for pics and sample footage. Brent

  10. Hey all. I have acquired a photosonics 4ML (pin registered 200 fps 35mm camera) with 400 foot mag. Many military surplus cameras like this are Kodak square perf. As far as I know, the pulldowns and reg pins need modification. I'm wondering if the pitch is different too. I see on Kodak's web site that there are .1886 and .1870 pitch for the KS perf and I'm not sure if the Photo-Sonics mag has the longer pitch as well. I'm curious if anyone has had experience in converting these mags, how well it worked, and what pitfalls need to be avoided. Thanks for any insight. Brent ps - Off topic... why would you ever put a print stock pitch on a camera film... for instance... High speed 16mm film on spools is .3000 pitch instead of .2996. Why?
  11. I have a very nice condition Lomo F=35mm Anamorphic Prime. Lomo Mount (for 2M camera) which can be converted to PL Mount I'm told. 602-550-6103
  12. I recently saw a post on EBAY for a 10mm schneider with a Schneider NIZO III wide angle attachment. THey said it covered super 16mm. I know the 10mm does, but have never seen it coupled with this lens to make a 5.7mm super 16 capable lens. Does anyone have any experience with this? The 10mm is an M55 filter (55mm) and the Nizo III documentation (seen on a scan on ebay ) says that it works with an M67 or M62 what's up with that? is it a simple 55 to 62 ot 67 filter adapter and voila? Brent
