It´s very hard to write a good script. I want to be a director, thing is, I don't like AD' ing. For the last 3 years I've working in the camera department, as gaffer/grip, 1st AC or Cam-Op. I've already directed a $4000 short on video, huge crew, which was a great experience, but the final producto didn't turned out the way I was expecting (I suppose I'm not the first one).
I would love to direct another short, but my mind is only on this feature length script that I've been writing for over a year. This is the third time im starting it all over. It's hard. Quality ain't easy.
I suppose to get to where you want to be, you just gotta take whatever road you think will take you there. In my case, coming from the camera department, I have learned all about lens sizes (basic for a director) and I have learned how to run a film set. Man, gaffers are the underdogs. If you want to have a cool set, be nice to those guys. They can stop your shoot at any moment. Plus, As an AC, you are the one that turns the camera on and off. I love it.
